Carter is average around 24-25 ppg. Shouldn't this average be way higher given that one of the best passers in NBA history is on the same team?

It would be higher if there wasn't for more scorers on the team like Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic, Boki Nachbar, and even the shoot first point guard, Marcus Williams. I think getting 24 points a game with all these other scorers on this team is great. </p>

We would be in a big hole, if we counted on Carter to score more points for us. This guy is no Kobe, he just don't have that intensity. One game he plays like superstar, other games he's a ghost.

Actually Rosen is right. VC comes through a couple times at the buzzer, yes...but not in the games against the top teams and in the playoffs. More often than not he gets stripped of the ball or just turns it over on his own. He doesnt even get a shot off a lot of the time. I was thinking the same thing though, he would've been on the hot seat last season, but we've already signed him to a huge contract so he has his money. There's really no hot seat for him now.</p>

Carter brings a lot to the team that would be hard to replace. The thing that gets me is that we always put the ball in Carter's hands at the end of games when its hould be on Kidd's hands. Thats the coach's fault.</p>

agreed, 100%.</p>

which is also another reason the proposed change in offense next season should help at the end of games. it'd allow VC to expend less energy on the offensive end, and could possibly give him more energy for the end of games. </p>

Carter isn't a clutch player, but he isn't anti-clutch either. I think the ball doesn't have to be in certain player's hands at the end of any given game, but the offense should definently run through Kidd. I'd like to see more picks under the bucket to free up the guards in the corners, or any play of that sort which leaves a guy open, instead of a Carter isolation every time. IF a play doesn't work, THEN we can give Carter the ball. If there's no time for a play, just give the ball to the best three point shooter in the best situation (for example: if Nachbar (good 3 point shooter) is open enough to shoot, give him the ball. If he's not, give it to the next best shooter and so on).

i get what Rosen is saying, but i dont think the term "hot seat" is applied correctly. that means, to me, that vince basically has to watch his own rear and better perform or he will be shipped out. as we all know vince just resigned and is the face of the brooklyn nets, whether people like it or not, along with kidd and possibly rj. the only way vince is not a net is if we get a marketable player back like a Kobe. if vince plays well, why would management want to trade him? if vince stinks the joint up who would want to take his game + his age + his contract? vince is a net until at least brooklyn and might even retire with us, who knows that far ahead, but my point is that vince isnt on the hot seat. vince has to step up his game in the playoffs and prove to the fans and to management he is worth 60mil and produce in the playoffs. he can average 30ppg in the regular season and have an MVP type of season, but the bottom line is that when your club makes the playoffs for a couple of years in a row making the playoffs alone is not satisfying. we may not have the makeup of a championship team, but that is what we want to be. if he was playing for the knicks and played how he played for us and got them into the playoffs after years of missing the playoffs he would be praised for getting them back, but here we have been not only in the playoffs for what? 6 years? but we have been to the finals as well, so our standards are different that other teams. </p>

vince is like ARod. ARod puts up nice regular season numbers, hits some homers and gets the team in the playoffs. once the playoffs start, that player transforms and plays differently in the playoffs and doesnt produce like a superstar should. the regular season means nothing to the yankees, they are all about winning a title and if you dont win a title the year is a failure. that is how i kind of view the nets. weve won the ATL title, weve won the EC title, weve been in the playoffs for a few years, its time to get that ring. if we lose in the ECF i think its a failure and im sure everyone else views it that way too. i dont think we are a great team but i dont think we are a fringe team either. vince can do all his dunks, put up 40-50points some games and hit some game winners, but if he bats .200 in the playoffs he is viewed in a negative light. is it fair? thats up to you personally, but thats how sports are these days. with the money being given to these athletes people expect the best out of you every night, which is unreasonable, and want to see their team win and win the title. if you dont, they say screw you and want someone new who can help them win a title. vince is in a position like arod where the only way he can turn his legacy around is to win a title and perform well while getting it. </p>

totally agree. even though J doesnt have the best offensive game the defense still focuses a lot of their attention on him. i would LOVE to see vince run curl plays and catch and shoot. hopefully with more motion that frank mentioned, ill believe it when i see it, this year that vince will get some screens and get some close shots from kidd feeds. if frank wants vince to attack the basket but sees he isnt it then becomes franks responsibility to call plays that get vince a closer shot. yes it is also vince's responsibility to get himself to the basket by any means, but if vince isnt getting there then frank needs to step in QUICKLY and change the direction we are going as an offense and get vince shots inside the arc or under the basket if possible. a coach looks great when his stars are playing liek stars, but when your stars are struggling that is when you become a coach and have to start to really coach.</p>

if we are really adding motion back to our offense i cannot wait to see Sean in it. i doubt he gets any playing time, but if we are using motion there are going to be a lot of screen and roles for our bigs for alley oops or high quality shots under the basket. i think boone is going to benefit the most out of all the bigs if we do get motion in our O </p>

I agree wholeheartedly.</p>

Reading Charlie Rosen never does anything but make me angry. He's a good scout, but his writing style is too bad/good, black/white. Everyone's either a winner or a choker, a tough guy or a faker. Read an article of his, and then compare it to any post on TrueHoop, and it's just amazing how unneccesarly bitter and biting Rosen is.</p>

Frank has promised to change up the play calls this year, and make everything a little bit less predictable. Reading between the lines, it's pretty obvious sign that we're going to move away from the Carter-iso offense, and into more mixed-bag passing plays (which we absolutely should do - Kidd, Carter, Marcus, Boki, Collins and Krstic are all very intellegent players, and very good passers).</p>
