I think everyone is overrating the Bulls a little too much.

Well, the Bulls just improved with possibly the best defensive juggernaut in the NBA. The Nets are pretty much the same as before. There is reason for cheer in Chicago.

But overall, we are much better. Our big three is better than their's. The are the better defensive team, we are the better offensive team.

the bulls are not bad offensively at all. deng, heinrich,gordon, and nocioni can all put the ball in the hoop. they should give the top teir teams in the nba a run for their money.

I never said the Bulls offense was bad I just said that the Nets offense is better.

Even if that's true, it's not a big enough difference to make up for the Bulls' advantage in defense, depth, rebounding, and coaching. You can make a case for the Bulls being a bit overrated, but there's no way they're worse than the Nets.

Hold on, the addition of Ben Wallace is not necessarily going to make the Bulls the Pistons of the last two years. He was in an ideal situation for his talents in Detroit with 4 other elite defenders playing alongside him. Not to say they won't be good defensively, but they're not going to be Piston or Spurs-esque. Lets not forget that we are a pretty damn good defensive team ourselves. Our offense should get better this year as well, as we actually have a bench and we are implementing a running style. I will concede, though, that the Bulls' bench kicks the **** out of ours, as they might just have one of the best benches in the league.

I don't really disagree with you here. But, when 2 teams are that evenly matched, the better bench is usually what pushes one over the top. What's more, I find the Bulls' roster to be more balanced in terms of talent and depth for every position.

Starters play the majority of minutes, and I really believe that having talented go-to guys that are used to making big plays down the stretch is what pushes a team over the top. We have Vince Kidd and RJ. Who is going to take the big shots down the strecth for the Bulls? I wouldn't put my faith in Gordon just yet. The Mavs bench was far better than the Heats, but Wade and the Heat starters were just too much for the Mavs.

Chicago does not need to be the Pistons to beat New Jersey, their go to guy is essentially Heinrich and having Ben Wallce under the basket spells bad baskets gone good. Chicago is already in New Jersey status and having Ben makes them alot better now defensively. I don't see New Jersey beating them in a best of 7 playoff at this point.

Well, I guess that's just a difference of opinion then. But, depth, in my books, is one of the more overlooked factors with any team. It keeps the pressure on a team for the entire game and allows a coach to adjust lineups to be more specific to his opponent. Also, it gives your stars enough of a rest to make them more effective when they are playing. You can use the Mavs/Heat example, but Miami had a very good bench as well. A better example would be Miami vs. Detroit. The Pistons had arguably the best starting lineup in the league, but the Heat's depth/bench pushed them to the Finals.

i agree with you, cause your 100% right the beter your bench the longer you can give you players time to rest and that accumlates in the long run

Ok guys. I'm gonna just jump into this conversation and try to make peace. Yes, I'm a Magic fan so you guys can laugh all you want. Anyways, Carter leaving the Nets is a HUGE blow as it was for Toronto. Carter isn't only valuable for his "highlight dunks." The man is a good 3pt shooter and a good defender. He has also stopped being a one man player and start being a team player. He should prob stay with the Nets to be honest. A lot of teams will want him especially the Bobcats and Orlando. Orlando has changed their direction to looking at Josh Howard recently. But VC should stay there because they have a good veteran PG in Kidd, a good running mate with RJ, a good, young, decent Center in Krstic and also good rookies that just came in.


Are the Nets boring?? Who cares?? That doesn't matter at all. Are the Spurs boring?? HELL YEAH! But they are dominant as hell. Is Tim Duncan exciting to watch?? HELL NO!!! Does he care?? No. You know why?? Because he is one of the best PFs to ever play the game.

I think the young players for charlotte and orlando (if they can sign him) will complement carter alot better than an aging pg in kidd. Both these teams will be better defensivley also, giving carter more energy on offense. i just dont see why he would stay in nj.

Let me ask you? How is Shaq a non factor? He's a very intimidating factor in the paint. I don't care who you are, but if you're driving to the basket and Shaq is there, you'll think twice, about driving. Even if Shaq is not playing great, you still are afraid of him, because of size etc. He made it easier for Wade to do what he does, the same way he made it easier for Kobe to do what he does and make the team win. He will be a big factor for about another 3 years, so don't even start with Collins. Bottom line is, Miami did beat New Jersey and that's that. Miami would have had a tougher time with just Wade doing his stuff and you know that.

Wow, denial, I tell you. 4-1 is a bad beat my friend, 4-2 is a bit more substantial. Being beat 4-1 means that you're lucky you actually won a game and it wasn't a sweep.

Finally, someone that actually makes sense

You really think Vince is going to always want to be with a team that only takes him to the second round of the playoffs or so. He's going to want to be traded or at least bought by another team that has the right players to make a run at the championship. The Nets don't have this. There's nothing wrong with it, but I really think Vince will be tired of being the go-to-guy on a team that he has to carry himself because no one else will. There's nothing wrong with playing for a LEGITIMATE contender; Drexler did it with Houston after the Blazers, Barkley tried to do it with Houston, Karl tried to do it with LA, and Payton and Mourning did it with Miami because Shaq was there. Heed my words, Carter is not going to stay with New Jersey much longer.

I know. Listen, I know you're loyal to your team. When Toronto made it to the playoffs for the first time and got swept by New York, I watched every game and thought we almost could have won each game, but the better team always shines through, and the differential of the win was always by a couple of points all the time. I don't remember about that Detroit/Miami series, but I'm sure that Miami won 4-2, which means that they had a tougher time. It's only natural to think that your team could do this or that, but stats would show that Detroit was a harder team to beat than New Jersey because it was 4-2, as opposed to 4-1.

I agree with you about everything but this. By next year if the Magic sign Vince, they will become contenders. VC has a couple more years in him and if he signs with Orlando they will become a fierce team with Howard, Nelson, and Carter. J.J. I agree that they won one more game than the Nets, but I'm telling you what some writers and commentators said. It was something like this "Nets had put up a bigger fight on both ends of the floor". It's not something I'm making up, but in fact what I heard. I didn't watch the Miami/Detroit series so I can't give my opinion on it.

Not to mention that Vince is from that area as well, which means that he will be more inspired to play there (his heart will be more in it), and Vince's history shows that when something means something to him, he will perform amazingly.

It's a great team, but I don't think they can topple someone like the Spurs or Phoenix. They are young and great players, but they won't be enough. They don't have as experience as some of the powerhouses. They are a future threat, but not a threat like the Spurs or Dallas, for at least a couple more seasons.

That shouldn't be the case. He should play with heart on any team or area he is in.

Then this goes to show that no matter how hard they fought, they just couldn't beat Miami, while Detroit, even though they didn't put up a big fight still managed to win 2 games. I know this doesn't pertain to this site, but I honestly believe that had Larry Brown been coaching Detroit, Detroit would have been in the finals with Dallas. You can clearly tell that the teamwork was not there with Detroit in the playoffs as opposed to the regular season where they won the most games in the East. Larry is great for this stuff.

Coaches can be overrated sometimes, and I really don't think that Brown could really change the series. Miami would of still came out on top in my opinion.
