Last time he had Dick Ebersol of NBC, one of the most powerful figures in broadcasting, as an enthusiastic partner and it still failed.

I don't see how it has much of a chance this time around. Unless he's not hoping to be a major pro league, but niche programming in this era of fractured viewership across tons of channels.

Finally a sports league where everyone will have to stand for the national anthem!

10 bucks says the angry orange will be tweeting about this and joining in somehow.

As if 2017 was not crazy enough, 2018 has fired its opening salvo as the return of the XFL, a controversial football league originally founded by Vince McMahon in 1999, was officially announced on Thursday.

CBS Sports first reported the nature of the announcement earlier in the day and that the league is not planning to start up again until 2020. McMahon, who rushed the original XFL into existence without so much as a full slate of offseason practices to prepare for the league's inaugural year, said he learned his lesson from one of the XFL's biggest initial mistakes.

"The new XFL is an exciting opportunity to reimagine America's favorite sport," said McMahon in a statement. "As we move towards kickoff, we look forward to listening and implementing innovative ideas from players, coaches, medical experts, technology executives, the media and most importantly football fans."

Dwight Jayens will talk about the XFL next on Comcast Sports Net. Dwight & Aaron show.

I'd like to see 80 yard fields with 20 yard end zones.

How about a team for Oregon or for the region like the New England Patriots had done? Surely having a team in the great North West would be great for all the millennials, lumberjacks, stacked up achievers and basic common joes. I like the North West Timberwolves. This may be a variation of the Arkansas State logo. Arkansas_State_Red_Wolves_logo.svg.png

Fuck Yeah! No drug testing! No concussion protocol! WWE Style drama before the match! /s

No seriously. I hope Portland gets a team. Probably the best chance we will ever have at football. I mean, football should be played year round because it's a real sport.

We have no facilities in Portland. The only facility close to being NFL/XFL is Autzen.

The Timbers don't own Providence Park, do they? As far as I know the city is still in charge. I believe they do have preferred status though. The Chargers shares the Stubhub Center with The Galaxy. I don't see why we couldn't do the same here.

Go watch a PSU Vikings football game. The south endzone is dangerous because of crap being so close. There is something about the football field that is not regulation but PSU gets a waiver from their conference. There is no way professional football can play there after the last remodel for the Timbers.

Dangerous for whom? Nobody goes.... I am sure they could close off seats to close to end zone. Besides Sly, the last time around the XFL MVP was Tommy Maddox! I doubt Portland fans would pack Providence Park much more than they would the Vikings.

He was a USFL owner, right?

Yep, and if the story is to be believed, he only owned a USFL team because the NFL wouldn't let him join their boys club. And with his weird holding grudges mentality, you never know with him.

Its xtream for a reason. If one has to run up a flight of stairs for a touch down and get tackled into a concrete pillar, well what is more xtreme than that?
