Vipers Tie Franchise Win-Streak with 126-109 Win Over Legends

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers topped the Texas Legends 126-109 tonight at State Farm Arena. Tonight's win ties the franchise-record of six consecutive wins. The last time the Vipers won six straight games was at the beginning of the 2009-10 season.

The Vipers had six players score in double figures. Maalik Wayns scored 24 points. Terrel Harris recorded a double-double 22 points, 15 rebounds. Andre Goudelock tallied 21 points. Tim Ohlbrecht added 14 points, and Vernon Macklin followed with 12 points.

Darius Rice led Texas with 30 points. Newcomer Justin Dentmon recorded 26 points, 10 assists. Solomon Bozeman added 22 points, 10 rebounds. Sean Williams scored 17 points.

The Vipers controlled the game throughout the first half of play. At the end of the first quarter, RGV was up 38-21. They took their largest lead of the night, 28 points, 51-23 at the 9:21 mark in the second quarter. Entering halftime, the Vipers held a 70-49 lead. By halftime, Harris had already tallied a double-double 14 points, 10 rebounds.

Throughout the third quarter, the Legends fought back scoring 41 points to the Vipers 25 points. Bozemen led the Legends with 14 points in the quarter. By then end of the third, Texas trailed the Vipers by only five points, 95-90.

Dentmon sank a jump shot at the beginning of the fourth quarter bring Texas within 3 points, 95-92. Motiejunas responded with back-to-back shots to put the Vipers back up and in control. By the 5:57 mark, RGV held a 115-95 advantage. The Vipers maintained their momentum and ended the game on top 126-109.

The Vipers end this five-game homestand Saturday, Jan. 26 when they host the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a 7 p.m. game at State Farm Arena. Vipers fans can listen to the game live on Fox Sports 1700 and can watch the game live on the NBA Development League Network on YouTube.
