I think they're good, especially the bacon maple bar, but definitely over-hyped.

Thanks to the both of you. Appreciate the responses. Anyone else is welcome to reply.

Krispy Kreme to me is overrated. I get a better quality donut at Safeway.

maybe a littler over hyped and over priced but still a great doughnut. the bacon-maple bar is a must but my personal favorite is the ODB. a lot of other really good doughnuts in there as well.

krispy kreme is the most over hyped doughnut ever. when they are fresh out of the fryer they are pretty good but there is nothing to them.

I don't think Voodoo Doughnuts is overrated, over-hyped, or over priced. They are offering a quirky Portland experience and the doughnuts are just plain fun. I think what it comes down to is how long you want to wait in line for what they are offering. If the line is out the door I'm not going to wait, shortish line, and I'll have a McMinville Cream and a Maple Bacon Bar to go please!

Some of their names they have for their donuts are not appetizing. And actually a turnoff.

I think any doughnut shop is over hyped. Krispy Kreme? Over hyped. It's a doughnut.

meh- get a maple bar from albertsons, put some bacon on it from home. Save yourself the hassle of standing in the hipster freakshow line @ Voodoo.
its's a win win.

I'd rather stand in the line than cook the bacon.

(thats what she said)

VD is nice, but I won't go too far out of my way to go there.

Voodoo is okay; Krispie Kreme is not bad, but not really good unless absolutely fresh. Coco Donuts downtown and near PGE Park is much much better than both. Also, Donuts Plus on Cornell is pretty fantastic.

Apprently I am familiar with many donut providers. Given my weight, it's not a surprise.

Because you work there!!

Grabbed Voodoo Donuts on the way home from the Winterhawks game tonight - always delicious!

I'm partial to Annie's Donuts over on Sandy.

Yup damn good donuts and no line.

As for Voodoo, I like them OK, but to stand in line for as long you have to, they should be lacing them with medical grade coke ...

that's why you skip the downtown location and go to the one on the eastside of the willamette. i've been in there numerous times with no line, just walk in and walk out with no fuss.

There's a line out the door at the eastside location pretty much all the time now, too.

that sucks. i was in there when i was back for the holidays and didn't have a problem. probably all depends on what time of day and how lucky you are.

Got some doughnuts at Safeway yesterday. They only had one Boston cream left though :(

I think the only time I've had voodoo doughnuts was at my uncle's memorial. The maple bacon one was money. I'm not sure if I'd stand in a long line for them, but it was definitely one of the best doughnuts I've had. I think QFC now has Top Pot doughnuts from Seattle. They're obviously not as fresh as the ones you can get up north, but I'm sure they're better than anything else you can get at a grocery store.
