Wow i wish my 5 bucks could be that valuable.

Hey that's awesome. But Dame has been mentoring tons of younger players. Or do you forget his programs?
I don't think you should ask me what I've forgotten...stick to the topic...it's not about me. You are free to your own opinions. Let's not make it personal

I think that narrative is played out and I disagree with it...when tanking we didn't have the 3rd pick..you can hate on Joe but that's where you and I reach an impasse....I think he's been very clear and sensible. Dame on the other hand has not been reasonable in my view. You don't handcuff the team you supposedly love to ring chase early in your contract...you ask for a trade with a year left on it...not 4 years. ..Dame has been paid incredibly well for what he's done for this franchise but this franchise and this city empowered him from his rookie year. He had the keys to the franchise and in my view is throwing that all away now. Sad but people make choices. It's time to let go of Dame in my view.
Get over the money thing. He would have gotten that everywhere with his skills and charisma. He got 5 national commercial deals. He showed you can succeed, and don't have to go to a major market, to get those kind of deals. It wasn't done to that level, if ever here in Portland before.

False. He could not have gotten the same salary on another team. It's contingent on playing for the SAME team for 8+ years. If he asked out 2 years ago or last year, he gets less money. Period. There was a MAJOR incentive to stay in Portland until this summer, and wouldn't you know..... as soon as Dame could leave, he asked out.
He could have asked out after his second deal. He stayed. He was built other business here. He was all in.

Your diatribe has been B.S. as well. I'm simply going to bat for the player that has given me more joy as a Blazers fan than any other . Dame is a rare talent that would have gotten a so called "Bag" from wherever he had played. But to see people in here turn on him and become so petty, and forget all he contributed, is flat out bullshit, disrespectful, and pathetic.
For the record, I'm not turning on Dame at all (I know it wasn't directed at me, I'm just chiming in to add perspective). I don't blame him. But I'd rather he rot on our bench than be fleaced to get him where he wants to go.

That's just business. Same as it is with Dame.

He would not have gotten anywhere near as much money. The 35% of our salary cap deal is contingent on staying in Portland.

Do you know him personally?

Wait Dame is having martial issues and getting a divorce? Why did Riverman say that

You can still be a fan of Dame and cheer for him on his next team. Choices
I will cheer for him to succeed. I did the same for Clyde. But when Clyde won the title with Houston it was hollow. I was happy for him , but because it wasn't Portland. It meant little to me.

I fought the same with people to keep Clyde. it's didn't happen. The rebuild didn't go great. It was Trader Bob and his merry band of mercenaries that brought the team close to a title, and ended up in the Jail Blazers Era.

Reggie Miller was my favorite player when I was a kid. When I met him in person he was a dick.

Never meet your heroes.

Are you sure that wasn't just some guy at a Wendys, and you were gullible?

It has been insinuated by people who know people. Not confirmed, as far as I am aware.

ahh that would explain how she completely vanished from social media after always constantly posting on IG and TikTok

My favorite all time football player was John Elway. My Best Friend's work ordeal at the theater he worked at, didn't go well. My Buddy stood his ground after John's wife gave him the biz. "Don't you know who this is" she said. She was looking for a discount. He said yes mam , but it's still the given price. Heard more rough things than good about the Duke. I will remember the player who entertained me, not the buffoon.

Most athlete's i've met in person, at the grocery store, or wherever , were super cool. Some of the best for me, were Billy Ray Bates, Darnell Valentine, Vance Johnson, Rob Moore to name a few. Calvin Natt was kinda intense. He didn't like that i was wearing Broncos stuff , even though it was in Denver. He was a Raiders fan though. I'm sure working with stiff makes you a little hard too. ( he was in the mortuary business). Mark Schlereth was a dick.

Not exactly correct here.
Dame just completed his 10th year. As a 10-year veteran, the max salary is the same as the Designated Veteran max contract (or 35% of the cap).

Dame wanted the extension last year to lock in the future earnings (by being a designated veteran). If he did not sign that contract, he would have hit the FA this summer and most likely have gotten the exact same contract amount. The only difference is/was the risk of him getting hurt last season.

Dame gets shit endorsements in Portland. He goes to NY 3 years ago he gets way more cash than the 30>35% supermax bump. I strongly disagree with your conspiracy theory Dame had some sinister money angle to this.

The endorsement argument might make sense in the macro, but if Dame decided that he was going to stick it out until he got that extension, I don't think one or two years with Portland endorsements would have made a drastic difference financially.

I'm not saying that Dame definitely stuck around for the money. I'm just saying that there was a significant financial reason TO stick around.

Almost certainly correct.

But he wouldn't be living under any bridges here in Portland...

Thompson was SO good at defending Scoot that they had to move him off Scoot and put Eason on him. Yup. That's really solid.

2 of his first three buckets in this highlight reel are Scoot torching him.

Eason started the game on him

The first bucket he blew by him, yup … although who knows where the help defense was supposed to be.

The second one is an example of what I said… He hit a tough mid range jumper… I’d say that’s far from “torching him”.

And once again, 4 blocks and 3 steals.

Direct question: Does that NOT signify some sort of defensive prowess? Yes or no?

Its an asisnine claim.
