VSL Game 2: Blazers vs Celtics - 5:30 p.m. CSNNW/ESPN2

I'm about a dozen posts from becoming completely jaded....

I'm not sure that Collins "needs to bulk up" - he's NINETEEN years old. Are you or anyone else on these forums (who are 21 or older) build like they were when they were 19? No. Even Shaq was thin at age 19. Yes, he'll get the protein powder/creatine/whatever treatment to accelerate the process, but the process will come naturally.

He was a nervous Nelly in front of his home crowd, and he played like it. Hopefully, that'll change, but even if it doesn't this summer league, I expect fantastic things from him THIS season.

Collins will be effective playing with Lillard or McCollum. There wasn't great space for him to work the post and he didn't get the ball with deep position. He got collapsed on hard when he was down low, and he'll learn when to kick it out and when to finish. He'll get more open jumpers next to Dame and CJ than he will in SL.

Shared an Uber ride over to the arena with 2 other Blazer fans. Also saw a couple of people at the hotel wearing Blazer attire. Portland is well represented here today!!

Did Collins really play poorly? I guess my expectations were low.

10 points, 7 boards, 4 blocks, and 2 steals.

He shot poorly, but so did Swanigan. :dunno:

I came away thinking that for as bad as he looked at times he looked just as good a few other times and I was impressed that for a "bad" game those are decent stats. If he did that off the bench in the regular season I would be super happy this year.

Collins has another tough physical match-up w/ Zizic today. Interested to see how he responds. Hopefully he's put in better positions to score and when he does get those 1v1 touches, he uses more skill/touch rather than strength to win those battles.

Look for Boston to throw out some small-ball lineups too. Should give us more of a chance to see how Collins and Swanigan perform in space situations defensively than we saw vs. Utah.

Idk, there's really not a true PG on the team. Closest thing is probably Guiterrez.
which is why our bigs aren't running as smoothly as they normally would. I saw a couple of passes at Collins' knees in game 1.

Tatum has probably impressed me more than any other player in the Summer League. His offensive skill set is incredibly polished for somebody so young.

How did Collins fall down on the tip ball?

Connaughton blocked on his first shot.

Connaughton already 0-2 in two trips down the court while his man Jaylen Brown is 2-2 from 3-pt range. 6-0 Celtics.
