Disclaimer: Maybe, I've taken all the Robert Ludlum novels a bit too seriously.
I find the timing of all this bad economic news and stock market bi-polarity quite interesting.
Earlier today, I was watching Tom Friedman (World is flat author) talk with Bono & Al Gore about poverty and climate change on C-Span.
They had Bono listed as Activist and musician (in that order).
I'm all for debt relief and treating 3rd world countries as equal.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>While 60% of the world's population lives in Asia, about 7.7% of the participants at the 2002 Annual Meeting were Asian.</div>
Funny things, equality & balence
Though, I can't help but feel that all this talk about helping Africa is just a massive ego stroke for celebrities. 1) It's such an enormous problem that most celebs are so egocentric they think its a project thats doable. 2) Any little thing done seems massive... Again an ego stoke.
I'm less skeptical about Climate change and something should be done. But, 30 yrs ago there was concern about global cooling & entering the next ice age. Bottom things are dynamic enough and our understanding is not as great as we think it is... so sensationalism pretty much takes center stage.
Keep in mind the Sundance film festival is going about 45 minutes where I live. It has been colder than normal. We have been led to believe that most Hollywooders are Al Gore types. Does anybody besides me see the amusement?
Whatever happened to think global act local?
