Knicks president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni do not appear to be on the same page about the handling of Stephon Marbury in New York after all, the New York Daily News is reporting.

D'Antoni has benched Marbury for the entire season so far, and things do not look to change any time soon. Marbury is the team's highest paid player, and will come off the books after the completion of the season.

When questioned on the logic behind not playing Marbury since he is on the roster, healthy and under contract, Walsh replied: "That's the whole point. That's the whole point. I would agree with that."

Walsh met with D'Antoni and Marbury before and after Monday's practice in Greenburgh regarding the veteran point guard's status and future. Walsh says he wants to resolve the matter but also admitted, "I don't even know if there are issues."

"I want to see where we can get to the point where it's good for (Marbury) and it's good for our franchise and we don't have an issue and I don't have all these people asking me these questions," Walsh said. "This issue will be dealt with. I want to make sure everybody is on page with what we want to do."

Not a good start for the organization.

D'Antoni should've at least given Stephon a chance to play and see how he would under his system. I mean it does seem like Stephon matured a bit, so give him a chance.
