Probably everyone here agrees with that first sentence. It gets sticky because a few of us actually have thought about what happens next, because none of our leaders seem to have done that.

Oh, I would bet there is a succession plan. The younger Iranian generation doesn't endorse theocracy, they want peace and a chance to prosper.
 
Trump usually announces this stuff. His silence is interesting

Granted I don’t check truth social so he may not be “silent” but I haven’t seen anything about the US confirming the death

Well, as long as the younger Iranian generation wants something and I guess no one else in Iran gets a say. Sounds like a winner.

What's the basis of your optimism that there's a succession plan?

Did you know that Iran killed 32000 civilians in two weeks? Are they murder lovers too? They were able to kill them so much faster than Israel could kill Gazans..(Gaza has around 70k people killed in over two years).
But sure.. you do you and keep hating.

I certainly don't want to be personally judged by the fact that my govt is blowing up Latin American fishing boats like whack a mole or kidnapping a president and his wife from their bedroom while stealing their oil. Nah, wouldn't want to ride into anything thinking we're the good guys these days. It's not uncommon to be embarrassed by your govt yet love your country and neighbors. I think we should avoid the Hatfield and McCoy wars here on our little basketball site and lead by example. My two cents.

And yet you did not answer about Iran situation. Why?

Lets take the 83-85% civilian figure at face value - I'm not disputing it.

But here's where I need you to be honest with yourself.

Hamas on October 7th didn't accidentally kill civilians. They went door to door executing families, took elderly hostages, burned people alive. 100% intentional, 100% civilian targeting - that was the entire point. Were you outraged?

Hezbollah fired thousands of rockets indiscriminately into Israeli cities for years. Rockets don't have precision guidance - you fire them at cities because you WANT to kill civilians. Any outrage from you?

Iran just killed tens of thousands of civilians in weeks - a faster rate than anything you're citing about Gaza. Still waiting for you to call them murder lovers.

So what's the actual principle here? Because it's clearly not 'civilian deaths are wrong.' You're applying that standard to exactly one country while giving everyone attacking it a free pass.

That's not a moral position. That's just hatred with extra steps.

Trump also announces heavy strategic bombing will continue until objectives are achieved, which could be for an extended period.

Iran loves to murder innocent civilians too. Iran killing thousands of protesting civilians, hanging women who don’t wear scarfs is horrific.

You won’t find a post of mine where I support anything Iran, hezbollah, hamas, or Israel has done. They’re all terrorists if you ask me
