Now it's been ten thousand years
Iran has cried a billion tears
For what, they never knew, now Trump's reign is through
But through eternal night, the twinkling of firefight...

If the U.S gains control of the strait of Hormuz - and becomes the enforcer and dominant ruler of the area - leading to cost reduction of oil for americans (aka Trump doing Venezuela) - would this benefit the american economy on the long term or not?

No. America controlling the Strait of Hormuz isn't going to lower gas prices more than they already were.

There's nothing to be gained from this. It's a huge failure. We fucked up Iraq and Afghanistan and Iran is a much tougher problem. Much bigger country, much more powerful military, larger population.

The absolute best that we can hope to get back to is maybe back to the Iran nuclear agreement that Obama had.

But even if that did happen, Iran will now be much more belligerent and hateful toward us than they were even then.

There will be more terrorism. There will be more hate spread.

This whole thing was incredibly stupid.

No
Because the only way for that to happen in real world, as opposed to AI, is massive ground invasion and occupation of Iran for years. Thousands of deaths, economic dislocation worldwide, terrorist reprisals, and instead of Iran holding Strait hostage, Trump would be.

Trump didn't "do" Venezuela, for the record. He ordered illegal kidnapping of jead of state. Left basic regime in place but they agreed to give him money.

Alternatively, how would this conflict change things if Iran said the only way they'd let the strait remain open is if oil was traded in yuan instead of the dollar? Since we're doing wild hypotheticals.

The notion that gas prices would come down if the U.S. controlled the Strait of Hormuz is some of the dumbest rhetoric out. We went to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. Did our lives get better? Anyone who knows anything about the U.S., even the oil we drill here gets exported into the international market. It does not stay in the U.S.

This is at least the second time you posted about this incidence. I looked it up. It is not verifed or substantiated, only hearsay. I am sorry I answer your comments as this makes me enabler to your taking over of this thread, but I just can't stand aside when you keep posting hate propganda.

Reports Trump is bored with Iran war. He thought it would end quickly and he would dictate terms of surrender. That didn't happen. So now no goal but he will know when it's done.
Also both in this country and internationally it is known way to get Trump to do shit is flattery. He was flattered that no previous president was smart enough or powerful enough to take on Iran, when reality none were stupid enough.

Please watch the interview starting at 26:00 minutes mark. He says things I think all here should hear and listen caerfully. He is Lebanese. I am Israeli. I agree with him 100%. Its as almost he speaks my thoghts.
And what he says is factual.

Btw there are currently rockets fired at me.. (targeted civilian population)
Edit: at least one israeli killed in this barrage. https://www.ynetnews.com/article/hyy11e00vowx
Yesterday I was on my way to work and sirens caught me on the highway during the rain. Had to stop at the sides and just sit and hope I am not in the crossfire. Took this picture to send my SO.

Trump tried to implement a ceasefire when Israel came in bombed. They don't want an end to the war. They don't want peace. And they certainly are not allies.

Be safe! I'm sorry you're in the line of fire.

Pentagon chiefs have expressed alarm at the rate the US is burning through its stockpiles of Tomahawk missiles just four weeks into the war with Iran.

The US has already launched 850 Tomahawks, each costing between $2 million and $3.6 million depending on the variant, and prized because they allow the Navy to strike targets up to 1,000 miles away without risking pilots.

Concerns about the stockpiles are now being whispered within Pentagon walls due to the difficulty in manufacturing the cruise missiles.

One official told the Washington Post the stockpile was 'alarmingly low.'

Another said the Tomahawk supply is close to 'Winchester,' military slang for out of ammunition.

Though the total Pentagon's stockpile of the munitions is a closely guarded secret, only a few hundred Tomahawks are made each year. Only 57 were purchased last year, according to the defense budget.
