Watch Dame in Vegas!

I am fairly confident that Dame will be an All-Star next year. He could end up being the best point guard in the west. He needs to get his PER up, and I'd like to see a few more assists from him, but the guy has the drive.

Not sure if the PER will help him, but getting the WIN's up will be huge.

Dame is making Blazers fans greedy. Most fans would love to have what Dame gave last year and be happy with same the next year. But Blazers fans can see his drive and desire and have come to expect and trust that he will give them even more next year. That is the makings of a truly special player.

Im not sure if this is good or bad ....

Regarding John Thompson saying damian needs better teammates:

I get that our bench was terrible last year, and has some big question marks this year, BUT

IF: Damian is a star, how many stars in the league have a better supporting cast around them?

Miami
Harden w/Howard
Nyets

Excluding the ability of our star compared to other teams top (ex: Lillard to Paul), I think Aldridge/Batum and the rest of the core lineup is probably better than or at least as good as:

Westbrook (post-injury), Ibaka (and core lineup)
Griffin, Reddick
Gasol, ?
Duncan, Ginobli
Z-bo, Conley

I'm not saying Lillard is as good as Durant, Paul, Kobe, Parker, or M Gasol, BUT it seems like his primary supporting cast is as good as a superstar can ask for if he is one at this point (or will be soon).

I think as currently constructed we have one of the best "teams" on paper as far as supporting cast. What we dont have yet, that makes that supporting cast even better is the superstar. As you mentioned the IF with Dame is looking more and more realistic each day.

Hope he gets his shots up!

(Dame meets Isiah Thomas)

Just so long as he isn't getting coaching/GM-ing/announcing advice.

It's easy to hate Isiah, but he came from probably the worst background of any successful star. Certainly unlike the cosy middle-class upbringings of Magic, Jordan and Kobe.

Casey Holdahl @CHold
. @Dame_Lillard was mic'd up yesterday ... RT @LangGreene: NBA TV will air "NBA Real Training Camp: 2013 USA Basketball" today at 3pm ET.

Here's the video here:

Not sure if anyone caught the interview with Coach K on Tuesday, but in addition to current team veterans, and also these young players, he mentioned there are a few veteran "All-Stars" in the NBA that are also in the mix, and will be considered as well. I took that to mean LMA, David Lee, and a few other players who aren't in the current pipeline.

This is like an all star game where they actually play hard. Fun to watch

I agree. So far it has been pretty fun. Damian looked good. Faried looked good.
Monroe has looked OK although Faried took the rebound away from him 2-3 times

It's pissing me off a bit the Irving is getting a Pick and Roll every single time down the court, while "Thibs" isn't giving Lillard the same opportunity. Monty is calling the pick and roll automatically, while Lillard has to dribble down and then pass the ball on the perimeter.

Favors is fucking awful on defense and is so slow. I don't think he's even calling out the screens to Lillard, and then he can't recover on defense. It's tough to watch, because it looks like Damian is getting lit up when Favors can't even figure out a simple step out on the pick and roll.

It's like the offense stands around and does nothing while they wait for Lillard to do something.

I was just going to say the same thing. Although maybe not quite in those words.

Irving though is pretty special. He has that extra burst that I was not aware of.
