Watch for our interest in D Jordan and G Monroe!

Why the FUCK would monroe choose NY over Portland? The ONLY reason would be for the limelight.

Ps I'm assuming he's getting the max wherever he goes

Aside from interest, if he was max worthy, why didn't he get it last year?

Not sure I would commit max on him.

Five teams have shown serious interest — the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. Monroe said he’ll meet with those teams this week.

“I’m looking to be with a team that’s ready to win,” said Monroe during a timeout at his youth basketball clinic Saturday morning at the Delgado Community College gymnasium. “Hopefully it will be a team where I’m the missing piece.”

Ok so who on that list of 5 is ready to win and he would be the missing piece?

If Aldridge comes back it's definitely us

Neil has is work cut out for himself. For every big FA he goes after, they have an equally attractive situation somewhere else or a bigger market with the same money. It is going to take a big time sales job which I think he is capable of...it may or not be enough.

I really don't see Monroe and Aldridge working together defensively, even if they might complement offensively. (But then again, everyone bitches about Aldridge working outside - do we want a player who practically forces him to?)

That suggests to me that Monroe is meant as an Aldridge replacement if LA leaves.

I don't think so because Portland wanted him last summer too. They probably think they can work together and aldridge probably approves of it.

Thought I read that monroe holds his opponent to a less than 15 per while performing at a 19-20 per level while playing center.

And with Leonard and plumlee, we could play matchups very very well with all four

You did. His PER is +4 at Center and -1.4 at Forward.

“(He and agent David Falk) are definitely looking at all our options,” he said. “You can see the trend is everybody’s taking shorter deals right now. So, most likely, I might take that route, too, and when the new deal kicks in, get a longer-term contract.

“I’m looking at a two-year deal plus an option” to become a free agent.

That means Portland wouldn't have his Bird Rights after such a short contract. That is a concern.

If Jordan leaves the Clippers, it will be for the Lakers IMO. They want him badly.
Monroe to the Knicks seems likely if rumors are true.
Jordan only has to arrive at Staples for his Lakers game. Nice deal for him.

I think next summer will be an anomaly regardless. With cap increasing so drastically, we could afford to reup on him.

Early Bird rights allow the team to re-sign for 175% of previous salary so I guess it wouldn't be too big of an issue in Monroe's case.

Yeah, the one issue might be that you can only offer a 4-year deal as an Early Bird Veteran, though at the home-team rate of 7.5% raises (instead of 4.5%). So you theoretically lose the "we can give more guaranteed years" argument.

Parsons visited DJ? I'm so confused on how this free agency thing works.

Teams can't talk to other teams free agents. Everything else seems to be fair game. Player can talk to players, agents can talk to anyone. ( I think)

So IOW Portland knew last summer that Aldridge wanted to leave? :MARIS61:

;)

I'm not sure Aldridge always knew. There have been things with his family that often swayed hit longer term thoughts which is only natural.

I think there will be a convo he has, if he hasn't already, with his mom. I really think he looks up to her and her opinion.

His mom and also the situation around his children which are in 2 different cities in Texas.
