With so many players and fan favorites that we've invested so much time in for years now on other teams, will any of you follow their season if the Blazers aren't playing and they are? Last time that happened I followed the Pistons to watch Sheed play. This season if there's not a Blazer game on, I'll probably watch Dallas, San Antonio, Charlotte and the Knicks for the same reason. Which ex Blazer will you tune in to see play? For me it'll be Dallas more than the others.

#1 Wes, mainly just to see if he is healthy
#2 Nic
#3 Mr. Bandwagon

Honestly, I will probably be more interested in watching some of the other teams and rising stars than this group.

I'd add Denver and the Nets to see Will and TRob but not for any other reason

This is probably my list as well for top 3

Not any ex-players, but I will watch Jazz games just because I really like Gobert, and their tv crew is top notch.

Agreed w/ this & Den. & Nets (mostly for the same reasons as you, although w/ Den. I also want to see how well Mudiay will play/develop). I would also add to my list the Bucks & Orlando; they'll both be fun to watch too!

Honestly, I've been watching old Blazers highlights and I can't stand the sight of LMA even when Lillard hit his .9 game winner, so not gonna be watching SA games. Honestly, I could care less how beautiful the offense will be, but I officially hate that team more than the Lakers and I never thought that would happen. Aldridge makes me sick to my fucking stomach.

I think Batum will be the most interesting to watch next to Kemba. Knicks would be interesting to see Porzingis and Rolo. Interested to see Mo Williams in Cleavland. Not really interested to see Wes in Dallas, I know he's not going to be the same and it'll be painful.

I enjoy watching most any NBA team.....except for NY and LA.....unless I can watch them get their asses kicked...so I guess I've enjoyed watching most any NBA team the past couple of years....

Over the last 3 seasons I've only watched the Blazers. This season I'm probably going to watch other teams on off nights for the good guys

Yeah, I'll probably only really watch Portland. I think they'll be excited to watch develop.
I'll check the highlights for other players probably.

I'm still bitter about the NBA as a whole. Fuck the league.

BTW, the NBA removed its 5 team option for LPBB. It's either single team or the full league.

But I'm mostly gonna stick with POR this year and our development. Gonna pay slight attention to UTA, MIL, and MIN as well as Nic and Wes.

I'm still a fan but I've thought for years that the NBA had become a second cousin of the WWF. Sometimes it almost feels "fixed", with the small market teams playing the part of the Washinton Generals to the big media market teams. And for all the billions both the owners and the players are getting, there's never any trickle down to the fans in terms of consistent (and genuine) ticket affordability. But it's the only game in town and, as already noted by others, it's interesting to watch the player development. I just wish there was more parity across the league.

Not a Timbers fan?

Probably nothing else cuz I'll be BALLIN OUT BRUHHHHHH

It could actually . be fun to watch Lamarcus ruin the Spurs and get yelled at by Pops for 4 qtrs every once in awhile. Take shots that Leonard, Diaw, Parker, Ginobli, Green and Duncan usually spread around. Brick some clutch shots and start missing free throws.

I'll do what I normally do, watch the Blazers. After that, if LeBron is playing I'll watch... Basically any "big" game on national TV I'll try to watch.

The NBA is getting harder to watch.

My now wife and I were actually two of the 6000 or so fans that sat in a game long downpour to watch the very first Timbers game in 1975. We made every single home game that year and attended the first Soccer Bowl. After that we had season tickets for 3-4 years and then kids and other priorities intervened. Sadly, I couldn't name a single player on the current Timbers team and the game just doesn't excite me like it used to. I'm glad it's a success though. But give me a baseball game if I can't have basketball.

I wish Portland had a baseball team more than anything. I'm tired of the Mariners never making the playoffs.

If Portland got a hockey team Id become an NHL fan for sure, but since they don't I pay no attention.

Portland would be perfect for baseball if they did it right (I doubt they would). Smaller classic style Stadium right on the waterfront, with the outfield by the water (for out of the park homeruns in the water). Still, I'm not sure it would attract many fans after the first season or two of 60-70 win ball. Plus, how many season tickets will be sold? We don't exactly have a lot of corporations to buy big chunks here in Oregon. Who will pay for the stadium to be built? You know Portlanders wont wanna foot the bill.

I've wanted baseball in Portland since the Mavericks left...still watch the Ems when I can

Yeah I have no clue how the logistics would work, but there's many teams in the MLB with awful attendance. Even with 60-70 win seasons, I think we'd at least have average attendance. This city needs another major professional sport.
Id say there's a 20% chance for an NHL team in the next 5 years and 10% chance for an MLB team.

NHL would be more profitable for the city.

It wouldn't cost anywhere near as much just due to the fact that hockey could be played in Moda. I feel like baseball would rake in more dough though
Baseball has better sponsors (still, we'd have some shit sponsors if we got a team...) but with the cost of the stadium being built is it going to be worth it? Will baseball in Portland be profitable? This isn't soccer where the players make pennies on the dollar either, not every team can be the A's or the Royals and turn a shit sandwich into filet mignon with great scouting.

If Portland gets baseball they better be good within 5 years or things could get real ugly when attendance is at 45-50% every game at best. Hockey on the other hand is great live (so attendance wont ever be awful, the Florida Panthers get 66% for fucks sake...) and easy to turn around COMPARED to baseball.

45% in a 40,000 seat stadium for 81 games = 1,458,000 tickets bought.
66% in a 20,000 seat stadium for 41 games = 541,200 tickets bought.

Not to mention baseball has a better TV deal.

I don't think we'd get that big of a baseball stadium but fair point. I just fear if we get any team no matter the league... They will sign the Comcast deal and we will be stuck... Never watching them.

I could see hockey opting for Root Sports. Starts right after the Mariners season finishes. What other options are there?

Back when Ted "the Mental Midget" Kulongoski was governor, one of the Indian tribes offered to foot the entire (note the word "entire") bill for a new stadium if they were allowed to build a Portland area casino (I believe out in Fairview at the old Multnomah Kennel Club). For some crazy and absolutely stupid and unfathomable reason reason, the governor, all by his smarter than thou self had a legal right to nix the deal without public input, and so he did. That was our last best hope for MLB. Thanks a lot Ted! And thank God for the Giants. Democrats or Republicans, we sure do elect some idiots......

The Kings will be a fun train wreck to watch this season.
