What is our biggest need long-term? I would say a forward who is an excellent outside shooter, who is also a decent defender. Can we get an upgrade of Jerami Grant?

Personally, I can only see trading him to dump his contract. I don't see a team trading us a younger, cheaper version of him. But I guess it is possible. The only other option I see would be getting an ending contract and a draft pick that could eventually replace him? But I doubt the pick would be in the lottery.

The only Kispert trade I'd consider:

I tell a lie. I'd actually prefer this, but I know it wouldn't happen:

Im sure the Pelicans will be all over LA’s shitty platter of scraps and a future pick :pokecrap:

It got them Luka. Probably Timme for Herb, plus NOP throws in a FRP would work fine for LAL

Bye bye Scoot?

OKC could beat any Lakers package for Jones without breaking a sweat, and Jones is exactly their kind of player. Same applies for Houston. If Lakers get Jones i will finally believe in conspiracies.
(Unless Lakers offer Reaves - that would actually be a win-win trade. But they won't.)

Scoot doesn’t make sense for the Pels

They are super high on Fears - both are too small to defend SGs

I’d assume a huge chunk of the 1RPs we have will head to New Orleans

It was reported a couple of times on earlier Locked on Pelicans podcast that the Pelicans were really high on Scoot.

how many more levels do we think trey murphy has in him?

Why would they trade him? He's only 25 and plays a position of need for them. They want to offload Zion but not him, Herb or the rookies.

I read a piece about this trade that said Portland was exploring a way to trade for him but it would probably take either Scoot or Sharpe...they said Sharpe and Murphy have about the same value. NO likes to trade with Cronin. I'd trade Scoot for him in a heartbeat. They also said the Pels will want a team willing to overpay for him...that's us

Honestly if you’re trading for Murphy it makes more sense to trade Sharpe. A lineup of

Scoot/Dame
Murphy/Dame
Tou
Deni
Clingan

I’m really torn I know Murphy is given commodity that would fit perfectly in our system of great defenders and can score efficiently.

Sharpe is my favorite player so I’m really torn I know he has superstar potential but good chance he may not ever get to that point. Murphy is a star now on both ends of the court and can shoot the 3 ball.

New Orleans is going to want multiple 1st rounders plus Sharpe or Scoot. Is it worth giving up a first rounder maybe 2-3 to get Murphy.

For me if it were an even 1 for 1 swap plus maybe late 1st rounder, I MIGHT consider it

If we're trading with the Pels I want Herb Jones or nobody. Murphy just doesn't excite me, certainly not for Scoot or Sharpe.

Herb and Kispert and the Blazers will be a nightmare to face in the playoffs

that was before the draft when Scoot's hype was over the top. He's been disappointing for a lottery pick, especially a 3rd pick. Doesn't shoot well; doesn't defend well; and has a 1.73 assist/turnover ratio. And, he's missed 63 games in 2.3 seasons, and counting

I'd bet they aren't so high anymore, especially now with Fears playing well

And yet, he shoots much better (at least from 3, which we desperately need) than Amen Thomson, the player everyone now seems to wish we'd taken instead. Thomson is shooting 9-49 on the season - good for 18%. (I know, nothing to do with Fears, just thought I'd defend Scoot a little).

I don't understand why forward would be the biggest need when its the only position we have 2 quality long term starters.

Center I'm not convinced Clingan will ever be a 30+ mpg starter. He's certainly a role player but might be best as a backup to a more mobile center.

Guard spots we don't have any quality starter.

Sure if we get an allstar forward you could make some sort of rotation work with Deni/Camara. But its not a need that should be targeted.
