Way too early trade suggestions (1 Viewer)

Sabonis makes 42 million dollars this year. Clingan isn't matching his salary. So we remove bench scoring in Grant? Of course, Sacramento is blowing it up, why would they want him? Find a 3rd team for him with assets? Again, hurts our bench, IMO. And hurts our defense.

I would definitely think about this one
Starting lineup
Jrue
Sharpe
Tou
Deni
Sabonis /rwill backing him up

That’s solid playoff team
Sabonis is playing with Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, Dennis Schroder, and Russell Westbrook, and at 3-9 the Kings are a solid lottery team, not a solid playoff team. Maybe, just maybe, Sabonis might not alter Portland's trajectory as much as some of you think

I remember dismissing the the ability of Ayton to impact Portland's chances because offensive C's who don't play good D are not very valuable, unless they are unicorns like Jokic. Sabonis is better than Ayton, obviously, but I'm skeptical he would have as much of an impact as many imagine

I don’t ever watch the Kings, I imagined Sabonis would be a decent defender because he’s a high energy guy and a good defensive rebounder. Is he like Ayton and just not interested?

Fair, he normally shoots the 3 ball really well for a big and is an outstanding rebounder. His mobility on our pressing defense would be good but definitely not the shot blocker that Clingan is but I think he’d add a dimension to our offense that would make up for it. Not sure I’d do it based on salary alone

Sabonis this season has a +/- of MINUS FIFTEEN PER GAME (in only 32 mpg). That may be the worst in the entire league. He might make Yang look like Clingan on defense.

I would consider picking him up if he got bought out, but I don't think he'd get many minutes in our defense-first system.

31pts, 18 boards, & 14 assist
Jalen Johnson would be worth going after, he has that ability to dominate.
An just remember how other fans' message boards would be saying something similar about Deni. Are you giving up Deni for what you would offer for Jalen? He'd be great to land. Of course. Why would Atlanta move a 23 year old locked up for the next 5 years at a reasonable enough salary putting up 22/9/6?

It would be a long shot for sure, and it would take at least future 1st, Grant, Scoot, and some. You're right though why would they give him up?

You absolutely pursue Sabas Jr, you absolutely take DC off the table. Use your picks and JG, the kings don’t really have better options than our warchest of future swaps.

I’m much closer to offering them Hansen than DC, from a basketball perspective

I’m just not as high on Clingan in our system. Good young player but for Sabas I would give him up, problem is Sac ain’t going to want Grant unless they get something really good in return or Grant is traded in 3 team deal

Easy trade though
Sac
Sabas
Blazers
Grant
Rupert
Clingan

And at least 1 1st rounder and maybe swap. Guessing they’d want more

offensively Sabas would fit perfectly
1. Shoots 3 ball well over csreer
2. Really good passer
3. Good in pick n roll and can finish at night rate in paint

Defensively
1. Great rebounder
2. Good one on one defender
3. Assume he would fit well in pressing defense that we use and would be able to get steals
4. Good teammate and doesn’t bring baggage
Con is he’s not a shot blocker

Another con is his salary. 42, 45, 48
He makes 10 million more per year than Grant. That alone takes away the Blazers adding an FRP

I agree he would make our starting lineup better. But it would make our bench and 3 pt shooting worse. If you take away the small sample size from Reath, Thybuille, and Willians. Grant is our best 3pt shooter up to this point at 40%. Sabonis is starting out slow at under 20%

I would still consider it, but I would not throw in the FRP.

What's the lineup look like with Markannen? Camara seems like a great 5th starter for his defense, so are we sending Sharpe to the bench? Running Markannen at C? I know we can improve everywhere, because we're not some top flight team, but I don't think this makes us one either.
Yeah trading for a forward just doesn't make sense unless it's a Giannis MVP level.

Guard we got a bunch of old guys or young unproven guys so that makes sense. Trade for a dominant center and we could have Clingan move to a backup or be included in the trade.

Markannen forward types just don't make sense with Deni+Camara. It's not enough of an upgrade to warrant sending out the picks a trading partner would want. Having all 3 as your best players is too clunky of a lineup

Sabonis could make sense if we never plan to add Dame.

I could see us hiding one of these guys on defense to allow them to lead our offense. But that duo is a horrible idea together just as the Dame CJ Melo squads couldn't defend a chair.

As you say no picks sure I'd probably try it out. But with Sabonis contract and bad D I don't see him moving the needle.
