Like Kawhii to the Blazers
Would make a lot of sense for Clippers to trade him, at the least they could get one draft pick if not more.

Don't see the Blazers being that team.

Even sending him to NY for Towns with Clippers getting two Knicks swaps makes sense for both teams.

Funny enough the Spurs could actually use Kawhi.

I'm still trying to do something with MN cuz they want to win now and definitely need a PG (or two) and we have a surplus. And I would really like for Jrue to be the one who goes. It seems like MN doesn't get enough in this deal. I would like to give them Robert Williams to take the place of Reid but that messes up the salaries; they really have no mediocre players on large expiring contracts. I don't think they would even be interested in a draft pick unless they could use in another trade? What about Cissoko? Is that too much? We would be taking on three yeas of Dillingham , who now seems to be considered a bust.1770247706516.png

Cronin probably pushing hard to move Grant, but no one wants to touch that contract.

I don’t trust Cronin. The draft picks he has made show a lack of judgement. Yang is only the most recent example of this. The only way Portland makes a really good trade is if Cronin gets lucky.

It's premature to judge Yang as he plays very limited minutes. No GM hits every draft. Cronin made good trades. He inherited a mess.

He cleaned up our roater pretty good. Not perferct.

Cronin inherited a roster that won 48 games - and has won 21,27,33,36.

While we have some interesting players we don't have a top10 young core in the NBA, probably not even top15. Pretty bad after so many years of losing and adding four high lottery picks. Wasted another first round pick on Murray that was a predictability stupid selection at the time.

Can certainly judge Yang - his value now is way less today than the 11th pick in the draft. No its not a final result - but yes we can estimate that value today. Conversely guys like Queen and Coward are worth more today. Of course any players value can go up or down in the future - rookie pick, signing, trade or such.

Now personally I am holding out hope that Kolde/Vulcan/etc were partially holding Cronin back. But if not and he had 100% control of all basketball decisions he certainly isn't a "good" GM. But I don't think he's been one of the very worst (not that this is high praise).

Or, more accurately, Cronin inherited an expensive, aging roster with no path to a championship. He successfully turned aging assets into a young core (Shaedon Sharpe, Scoot Henderson, Deni Avdija) and multiple future draft picks.

Where would you rank that core in the NBA?

While I am excited for some of our youth, honestly it doesn't rank up very high even with teams that have been winning the whole time and not tanking.

Would love to be wrong and Scoot or Sharpe become a star. But Im just not seeing a realistic path to go from here to contend in a long long time

It doesn’t rank highly at all. It’s a concern but what are you gonna do?

If you're Joe and you have a new owner taking over at the end of next month, I don't know for sure but the old, "I planted a lot of good seeds for the next transaction window." might just get you canned on April 1st.

Cronin doesn’t get nearly enough credit.

He fleeced the Wizards for Deni. When is the last time we traded for a young player that became an all star? Probably Sheed…. From the Wizards.

You could say Roy and Aldridge but that was on draft day and I count that as draft picks. Not trading for a player who had been in the league for several years.

He did something that Neil could never do. Pritchard never traded for an all star. Nash didn’t either. Only Bob. It’s been almost 30 years. Give the man his flowers.
