Further proof that Aminu was a great signing especially at the price we got him!

Restricted free agent Kyle Singler has agreed to a five-year, nearly $25M extension with Oklahoma City, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

Exactly this, plus we actually got Aminu, Noah and Henderson for Batum's money. Add those up and we got a steal

Aminu 7.5 Vonleh 2.65 Henderson 6 that is a little bit more than Batum's 12.3 but I see the point you were aiming at.

Aminu probably makes more money if he waits a few hours longer....

I was thinking the same. The deal is a fair one based on his skills and production, but I am sure he regretting it now. Can he get out of it?

Yes he could, he would look a huge dick but the deal is only verbal to July 9.

Yeah, but it's extremely poor form. Someone did something like that a year or two ago. Looks terrible on the player and the agent. I suspect he knows he'll more than make up for it if he performs, as he'll be a FA at 28 again.

As some others posted earlier Kevin Pelton calculated Aminu value over the next three years at $34 million or over $11 million per season. Since we got him for less and one year longer its projected as us underpaying him. With his actual cost being $7.5 million per season Neil got a very smart deal.

But what I found even more interesting was;

Brook Lopez has a projected value of $33 million yet he signed for $20 million per year.
Trisitan Thompson projected $34 million value signed for $16 million per year.
Omer Asik projected value of $34 million likely signs for much more than Aminu
Iman Shumpert projected value of $34 million signed for $10 million per year
Thaddeus Young projected value of $35 million signed for $12.5 million per year

So by Peltons analytics, even with Aminu seemingly unimpressive simple statistics he could be one of the steals of free agency.

I take it you have insider @Draco ? What is Monroe's value? I have to think Carroll was also overpaid right? And are there any other under the radar guys like Aminu that probably don't get paid what Pelton thinks they should?

First 3 guys get millions, rest all get under a hundred bucks?

Interesting that they have LMA and Monroe as tied in value the next 3 years. And why would RPM undervalue LMA but not some other players?

Because his long jumpers have a very positive effect on a teams offense just the same as a 3 pointer but the RPM statistical model doesn't capture it. Marc Gasol is similar.

Pelton's 3-year projections say that Farouq is no bargain.

20/33=61%
16/34=47%
>(7.5 x 3)/34=>66%
10/34=29%
12.5/35=36%
(7.5/year x 3)/34=66% Farouq

Pelton's stats say that Farouq is the second-LEAST of a bargain (Asik is #1).

20/33=61%
16/34=47%
>30/34=>88%
10/34=29%
12.5/35=36%
30/34=88%
it's projected out 3 years, so for example,
Lopez: $33 worth/ (3x$20) = 55% value or 1/.55 - 1 = 81.8% overpaid
Aminu comes out UNDERpaid.

I saw that and edited while you posted. The mail crossed. He's still not a big steal as claimed, compared to the 5-player mix that was listed.

Now I edited it again to correct Asik. Anyway, Farouq is still 2nd-highest in the group.

Okay, I calculated it your way and now, Farouq is the best bargain.

(20x3)/33=1.82
(16x3)/34=1.41
>(7.5x3)/34=>.66
(10x3)/34=.88
(12.5x3)35=1.07
(7.5x3)/34=.66

But I question Pelton. For the next 3 years, he says Farouq (34) is worth more than Brook Lopez (33), equal to Tristan, Asik, and Shumpert (all 34), and only 1 below Thaddeus (35).

I guess that's what threw me off. Pelton's projections don't make sense.

Last night, Asik got $12 million per year (5 years, Pelicans). His line changes from

>(7.5x3)/34=>.66
to
(12x3)/34=1.06

Pelton's system says that Farouk should be paid the same as Asik and Brook Lopez. The system's 15 seconds of fame are up; I'll stop figuring it out. I hope he deep-sixes it.

bullshit

He's gonna end up being a bargain. I dont really care about his shot because on defense he's going to lock it up. Defensively he is nic batum if nic batum hustled every night.

Great description, though I do want him to work on his shooting. His FT% started out at a very respectable .773 his rookie year and has dropped off a fair bit.
