Can't shoot, but he was fun to watch, always open under the hoop.

I bet aldridge knew about this before today. No way they met and negotiated a contract in 30 minutes. This was probably long done.

Not in love with this.... Aminu has been in the league like five years and really only had a good playoff showing. Seems like too much for an unproven guy

@farouq1: Headed to Portland with my guy Neil Olshey, who believed in me since day one. Much love

Rip city here I come

Holy shit. A free agent who wanted to come to Portland and did.

I see a unicorn!

I like the signing. He has a chance to be DPOY type guy in a couple years. Kinda underwhelming though if you think just that signing is going to convince Aldridge that were serious about winning.

Is Aminu his first or last name? Can he play SF? Will he start?

Yes he is a sF. Fills a needed role IMO. A tall defensive minded SF. We need two SF in FA IMO. Harris and some of the others seem to be on everyone's radar. If we can't get one maybe we try for Wes. He and Aminu would improve that position over last year.

Sorry Mags, but if Wes, Batum and Lopez aren't good enough for Aldridge I can assure you that Aminu/Hibbert isn't either.
It's not just those two. It would be additions of Noah, Anderson, Hibbert, Aminu, Plumlee. Bolster the bench and upgrade more defined roles

I looked up Aminu's playoff numbers. As the series went on, he did great in all departments.

Not sure on the salary shakedown, but are aminu, hendo, and NV about the same money as batum was making by himself?

To me, this whole offseason thus far is looking into the future. Lillard, McCollum, Leonard, Vonleh, Plumlee, Connaghton and Aminu is a promising young core. Now if we sign a guy like Greg Monroe. That would be icing.

Not really. Guy can't shoot and is no great shakes as a distributor (Batum when he was at his most effective before last year).
We needed a small forward who can guard good small forwards and we got one, hence...Batum's role is filled. Younger cheaper SF

That's better than the alternative, but you have to ask yourself one question. Is that small sample of games representative or is the first four years in the league? I guess we'll find out.

I mean, how do we not get this guy? He should be getting $4-5 mil a year.

I always love posts like this. If he was only worth 4-5 then he would've gotten 4-5. These are professionals. Let them handle it ok?

A combination of a coming out party for CJ/Gerald Henderson will easily = Mr. 15 million Mathews production. A declining Batums 12 million vs an up and coming Aminu 7 mill plus possibly our PF of the future in Vonleh think Jamal Mashburn/Tristan Thompson. Oshley so far has a plan without LMA. If Portland can't attract the big name FA's then let's build this team with depth and the right set of role players Atlanta hawks style.

Just a bit more. According to Basketball Reference... Aminu = 7, Hendo = 6, NV = 2.6. Batum = 12.2

Sarcasm, Dogg. I'm trying to be in advance of everyone else that says similar. Check the rep, then respect.

The only thing I don't like is that it was our first signing/meeting.

Why is that a negative? Neil obviously had him in mind as a sure thing. He got one need out of the way quickly so he can focus on other issues.
