I really like Batum, always did - but I think it was about time for him to go - Batum says he is happy in Charlotte because he is their 1B ball handler - for this to happen here - CJ's game might have had to be curtailed and he might have not broken through. I know Evan Turner had a bad year - but I still believe that if he is healthy he can give you 80% of Batum's performance for 66% of the price.

I believe Batum liked Portland. I also believe he would take the biggest contract offered to him, like pretty much everyone. I also believe he was traded to appease LaMarshmallow, which was a stupid reason. I would have traded LaMarshmallow before Batum, since it was obvious to anyone paying attention that LaMarsh wasn't coming back. As much as I think Batum would be the perfect compliment to this team, it seems like maybe we couldn't afford him anyway. So, yeah, speculation on a speculation board FTW. It's what I do :)

Sorry, I don't buy this. If we are willing to spend $17M on Turner surely $22M for Nic isn't too expensive. Add in that we were willing to spend $18M on Crabbe (a bench player!) and $10M on Meyers. One Nic is worth more than Turner+Crabbe+Meyers...and when you factor in the difference between $22M and $45M, we'd have been FAR better off had we kept Nic and not signed these other bozos (add another $7M to the cost for uber-bozo Aminu).

This is somewhat good news to me. Unless Vonleh kills it, he isn't our PF of the future. This will give a couple others a shot. If Vonleh comes back and steals their lunch money then more power to him. If not, then it will be because someone else deserved it more.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Vonleh come back after a few weeks and just wreck things, but this does give others a chance to pass him up if they can.

I'm sure I'm the minority here on this 1; I agree w/ everything u said ^ w/ the exception of Turner. I think Turner will come close this season to justifying his contract.

Also even if they might've contemplated it before they played us, they saw how TRULY crap most of those players are first hand... So I guess we'd just have to hope that they did it out of the kindness of their hearts.
 
So: we won by nearly 50 and Meyers hardly plays, Collins DOESN'T play and Vonleh's still out.

Vonleh was quite good when teamed with Nurkic last season and Collins is a good defensive big off the bench who can score a little inside and hit an outside shot. Meyers....well, Meyers.

If Ed continues like this, we may have a glut up front. Nurkic, Davis, Collins and Swanigan can all contribute although Stotts loves his small ball where Aminue defends, rebounds and makes any of the other four look like offensive all-stars.

Thing is, if we did want to clear out with a trade, what kind of player would we target? Now Evan Turner appears to have turned into what he was in Boston (do-everything ball-handler and defender) where's our biggest hole? I guess I'd like another Turner who could also shoot 3s.

I've never been wowed by Vonleh even when he looked decent last year. He just thinks too slow. Plus he'd be the selling point of any trade package really, for somebody who thought he still had potential. Does Indy have anybody we'd want (answer yes: Cory Joseph)? They might have some sentimental attachment to him from his college days.
