TRAIL BLAZERS MOVE UP IN DRAFT, ACQUIRE 22ND PICK FROM DALLAS
Portland sends 24th pick, 56th pick and 2010 second-round pick to Mavericks

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Trail Blazers moved up two spots in the 2009 NBA Draft, acquiring the 22nd overall selection from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for the 24th pick, 56th pick, and a second-round pick in 2010, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard.

With Wednesday’s transaction, the Trail Blazers now hold the 22nd, 33rd, 38th and 55th overall selections in Thursday’s NBA Draft.

The 2010 second-round pick sent to Dallas will be the worse of the two picks Portland currently owns in next year’s NBA Draft, which are the team’s own selection and Chicago’s. The Trail Blazers acquired the Chicago pick in a three-way draft day trade in 2008.

Baby steps. Baby steps up to 22. Baby steps up to draft Rubio.

So we wanted to hop in front of the Kings? If nothing else it's a nice consolidation move.

Hmm. Maybe they have a player targeted that Sacramento (#23) also wants?

A big meh

the 56th pick is crap. Next years pick is going to be the 30th pick right?;)

With all the Hinrich talk, maybe we are getting the 16 pick from Chicago also and we could package the 16, 22 to get into the top 10.

I would think Blake, Outlaw, and #22 for Hinrich and #16 more likely, but I'm certainly no KP.

Re: WOOOTTTTTRADE!

Link?

Interesting. I wonder who we are targeting at 22, but didn't they would be there at 24? Psycho-T?

Re: WOOOTTTTTRADE!

My initial reaction is...why? I'm hoping another team really covets the #22 pick in a package deal, and that the #24 pick was the killer?

Oh well.

Not a real exciting move, but it makes sense. There's no way in hell we can use all these second rounders, so why not use them to make our first rounder count more?

Re: WOOOTTTTTRADE!

this thread makes no sense...can somebody use coherent english?

I don't really think this has anything to do with a potential Hinrich trade, I bet the player drafted at #22 will stay a Blazer. Casspi? googling now to see if he worked out with the Kings.

That's too much to ask. Just like its too much to ask for people to look and see if there is already a thread on the topic they want to post.

Re: WOOOTTTTTRADE!

maybe we are slowly trying to move up?
What's next 22 and 55 for 20?
