Laker fans didn't stay bummed for long when Bynum went down in the 07-08 season. Bynum was averaging 13/10 and his loss was devastating. Then they traded Kwame and the rights to Marc Gasol for fucking Pau Gasol. Just like that, a team that got bounced in the first round of the 2007 playoffs made it to the 2008 NBA Finals.

It's time for KP to put together a similar deal. Maybe something like Cunningham, Claver, and Miller for Antawn Jamison? We would be an immediate contender with a deal like that.

The last TWO championships were won because of heavily lopsided deals. Fuck, the Celtics went from a 24 win team to the championship in one fucking season because of such a deal.

C'mon KP. Get it done.

There really isn't a player out there that is as available as Gasol was.

He demanded a trade and was talking about playing in other cities. They were extremely active in shopping him.

Jamison is not going to elevate this team much like the Pau Gasol trade did for the Lakers.

we don't need another big contract. we need roll playing bigs.

There is no "Gasol" deal out there, those don't happen very often and when they do, they inevitably benefit the Lakers or the Celtics, not teams like the Blazers. At best we might be able to get Elton Brand ... but do we really want that?

Jamison is a top 25 player in this league. He can play both PF and SF. He can score and rebound. He would be a HUGE help for us. Just like that, we'd have the best starting SF we've had since Pippen and a guy who can slide to PF when LMA slides to center. He's like Outlaw but 7 times better. The dude is averaging 20.9 ppg and 9.4 rpg this season. Honestly, he would solve everything. He's certainly better than Milsap or Turkoglu.

If KP can get Brandon Roy for Randy Foye (7.1 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 1.4 apg this season), then he can do anything.

Jamison would worsen our defensive woes, and at his contract, would PA be willing to take him? Especially when we have little chance of competing this season?

They were traded as rookies before they even played a game. But of course you would ignore that fact.

You're selling our team short. Roy is a top 5 talent in this league and he is still very healthy. With the right moves, we can build around him and compete.

KP waited too long. A lot of fans, including myself, have been wanting a trade that would consolidate and balance the roster. Injuries have thrown that hope out the window.

How exactly are we going to bring in an impact player with damaged goods? All of our assets are hurt. KP played poker and lost.

How was I ignoring that fact? We traded a very mediocre player for a sensational player.

Miller's very healthy. Hasn't missed a game in years.

There's no arguing with you, really. Forget it, I'm not even going to bother.

Which part do you disagree with? That he's a top 5 talent or that he's healthy? Did you watch the game last night? Roy was unstoppable down the stretch. Roy has all the skills to be the second best shooting guard in the league.

Just stop.

There are only a handful of teams that DON'T need a "Pau Gasol" deal Kingspeed.

Our main (healthy) tradable assets:

Miller
Bayless
Webster
Blake
Pendergraph
Cunningham

We aren't going to land an impact big.

If we make a move, the only good move would be a consolidation move and we would lose either Rudy or Batum in the process.

because.. KP got that deal before anyone knew Roy would be AS good as he is.. thats the point.. Roy was not a top 5 talent in the league when KP did that deal. So unless its all of the sudden Draft day and KP can pritch slap another person cause he can see the talent that other gm's cant... :dunno:

Your trade machine is broken kingspeed.

Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Dwayne Wade
Carmelo Anthony
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Paul Pierce
Chris Paul
Chris Bosh
Deron Williams
Dirk Nowitzki
Kevin Durant
Dwight Howard

There's what, 13 players I would take over Roy. I'm just curious, what's your top 5 in the NBA? Because Bryant, James, Wade and Paul are probably the top 4 players in the NBA, and I'd take any other of those 9 guys over Roy, too. Top 15 talent...probably, but not top 5.

Oh, and you guys really don't have much for trade assets to land a Gasol type deal, you also have the issue of no team willing to do that type of a deal. The main reason the Lakers landed is because Heisley had the team up for a fire sale at that point in time because he was trying to sell it and wanted to shed all his long and expensive contracts.

The ones in bold I would not take over Roy. IMO.

Pierce and KG are understandable. However, I'd absolutely take Durant over Roy. He's got a higher ceiling than Roy on both ends of the court due to his length and freakish skill set. Beyond that, he's already a better scorer and rebounder.

The only reason I wouldn't take Timmy D over Roy is because of the age, but we're not necessarily talking about potential, we're talking top players. Because of that, I take Duncan. He commands a double team down in the post, making life easier for everyone else around, and he's also dominant on the defensive end. His ability to pass out of the post and out of the double are also very underrated.

Chris Bosh is a beast. He's got range out to 20ft or so, and that's damn impressive for a PF/C, allowing him to stretch the defense a bit and soften up the middle. He's also skilled enough as a ball handler to take opposing PFs off the dribble. He's not as good of a scorer as Roy is, but he's great on the glass and continues to develop on the defensive end. Plus he's a big...and if I can have a multi-talented big or a SG, I'm taking the big.

Deron Williams is the 2nd best PG in the league, is a beast in the post because of his size, plus he's got a good outside game. Much like a big, I'll take a top-flight PG over most scoring SGs.

And Dirk, I hate him, but he's the best scoring big in the NBA. He can take you in the post and he can stretch the defense better than most guards. He can also take his man off the dribble and is a much improved rebounder and defender.

Regardless of age IMO TD is not the same player he once was.. thats why I have Roy ahead of him.. not overall career wise cause TD is one of the best if not the best PF of all time. Bosh is having a good year on the glass I'll give you that. But a lot of his rebounds are almost by default cause well Barnani isnt exactly a monster. Durant is a wonderful scorer and is rebounding finally. Lets see him do it when it counts or lead his team and then we'll see, but for now I'll take Roy over him. I just cant put Williams ahead of him sorry. Dirk I'm sorry but "improved" defender and Rebounder still doesnt make him adequate in that department IMO. But yes best scoring big I'll agree. Last year I had Melo behind Roy overall but Melo has def passed him this year.
