With so many ideas and debates on who you'd take in the late/mid/early first round there isn't a better player for what this team needs than defensive-minded Clint Capela. Assuming we keep LMA of course (
).
He's not getting a lot of hype like Gordon or Payton but the analytical guys love him. Everyone one of them have him in their top-3. Likely a low-lotto, mid-first pick.

As I noted in last week's analysis of the top international prospects in the draft, which highlighted the overall strength of the group, Capela performed well both in the French Pro A league and in his team's brief stint in the EuroCup against more challenging competition. He is an excellent shot-blocker for a power forward and is arguably the best finisher in this year's draft, as reflected by his projected 54.4 percent 2-point accuracy.
(Hickory-High) Andrew Johnson's P-AWS projection:
While there is no consensus top pick this year, generally a bad sign by the way, Joel Embiid is one of the possible number ones this year, projecting similarly to Jabari Parker and higher than Andrew Wiggins. As a center Embiid is the easiest to compare to Noel. The center that actually projects the best in my models is Clint Capela, a Swiss 19 year old playing pro ball in France.
(HoopsAnalyst) Ed Weiland's PF rankings:
1. Clint Capela, Chalon: When looking at prospects I always try to think upside over all else. I believe Capela has more of it than any PF available this year. He’s raw, but his numbers are pretty impressive. Playing over 800 minutes between French and Eurocup games he hit over 65% of his 2-pointers with strong rebounding and defensive numbers. He’s 6’11 with a 7’3” wingspan. He seems to have a ton of upside and I feel he has a better chance at NBA success than any other PF prospect available this year.
