He's probably the brightest guy here, but he's wrong. I respect his intelligence enough to avoid arguing with him because he'll win.

You're selling yourself short twice in 2 sentences.

Fine, Eric, change it to "good friends". This issue isn't one over which I'm going to have a discussion about semantics. Friends of mine were murdered by psychotic cowards, so if you want to quibble, go fuck yourself.

I will go fuck myself but as I said to begin with, I'm sorry for your loss. I still mean that. That really sucks.

I apologize for my reaction, and I appreciate your sentiments.

I'm sorry that anyone dies. Most people die from inadequate health care.

How did you have SEVERAL close friends who died? Unless you worked for the fire department or Windows of the World, I can't imagine anyone having several CLOSE friends? How did you know these people? How close were you? Serious questions. I'm curious and sorry for your loss.

Valid concerns.

This thread proves that the Republicans are wrong and we need Federal action on a unified health care plan.

imagine if terrorists dropped bombs on our children everyday, we would probably want to THEIR children for revenge

good times

You mean, if we were Israeli? If you think of it that way, you have to admire their restraint.

wait what? i think you got that restraint thing backwards there...

Funny, I don't recall all the Israelis who are strapping bombs to themselves and heading to Palestinian areas. I don't recall Israelis indiscriminately firing rockets into Palestinian residential areas. I don't recall Israel saying they're going to drive the Palestinians into the sea and wipe them out. I don't recall Israel walking away from the Oslo accords after being given 95% of what they want. And I don't recall Israel saying the Palestinians don't have a right to exist. Of course, I could be wrong.

Are you trying to tell me the Palestinians are suffering? I agree. All they have to do is acknowledge Israel's right to exist, deny the right of return for all descendants from 1947 and live within their current borders and it would be done in a week. It's not Israel that's continuing this war. Thanks for playing, though.

how does this involve in your point?

yes, the poor israelis, no wonder they keep killing palestinians at a dizzying rate

Palestinians are just greedy. They weren't even using that land anyway. Have some personal responsibility, Palestine.

Are they better than we were with our treatment of the American Indian? Here's a guarantee: if the Palestinians would renounce violence, they wouldn't be killed by the Israelis.

pretty sure the american indians were displaced jews according to romney, so there are some interesting parallels there

and if we are comparing peoples treatment now, to atrocities that happened hundreds of years years ago, that doesnt say much for our "evolution"

Been to a reservation lately?

yes actually, you?

Just last week. The point is what's happening to the Palestinians is unfortunate, but not uncommon in this world. They are a flashpoint because they are being used as a tool by the Arab world to control their street. If they direct their anger toward the Jews or the West, they get to stay in power. If the Arabs wanted to settle the Palestinian problem, it would have been solved decades ago. Instead, many are still technically at war with Israel.

ahh were there tanks rolling through houses and children being shot in the face? interesting

Did that happen without provocation last week in Israel? The snark act is wearing thin. Pretty soon you'll have to bring some actual analysis to the table. My guess is you'll deflect or drop the argument before that happens. It's a good schtick, though.

last week? oh i was referencing children murder stats from the last decade or so until present, and how the palestinians have shown restraint in not taking an eye for an eye

guess im not sure what you are talking about, american indians or something?

...or you can stop beating your Zionist drums now and actually present the entire story:

...and then there is this gem, written in 1947 from King Abdullah, that explains the true history of Palestine and allows us to gain a true perspective without the omnipresent Zionist propaganda spin:

Summary: This fascinating essay, written by King Hussein's grandfather King Abdullah, appeared in the United States six months before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In the article, titled "As the Arabs See the Jews", King Abdullah disputes the mistaken view that Arab opposition to Zionism (and later the state of Israel) is because of longstanding religious or ethnic hatred. He notes that Jews and Muslims enjoyed a long history of peaceful coexistence in the Middle East, and that Jews have historically suffered far more at the hands of Christian Europe.

Pointing to the tragedy of the holocaust that Jews suffered during World War II, the monarch asks why America and Europe are refusing to accept more than a handful of Jewish immigrants and refugees. It is unfair, he argues, to make Palestine, which is innocent of anti-Semitism, pay for the crimes of Europe. King Abdullah also asks how Jews can claim a historic right to Palestine, when Arabs have been the overwhelming majority there for nearly 1300 uninterrupted years?
