This could make the fanbase stronger.. if we continue to find ways to win. It'd be a great rallying point.

The team ought to get this and have every fan sign it for Greg

Two weeks ago I said I was this close to being done with blazer basketball. Well, I think I'm ready to be done with it.

How effin convenient for Brandon Roy, Nate McMillan and Kevin Pritchard. Back to good ol isolation basketball. Just the way Brandon Roy likes it. No more broken brain cells for Nate McMillan trying to put together a game plan that works for everyone. No more hot under the collar moments for KP. He has an out. They all have an out now.

Yep, life just got easier for all three of them.

And I think I'm done.

And all I'll say to him is, "don't let the door hitchya where the good lord splitchya"

But weren't we hoping that by next season he'd be around a 16 & 12 guy? After an injury like this, his development is seriously set back. The guy has only played 81 NBA games going into what was supposed to be his 4th season. It's a long long haul for Greg to get to where we wanted him to be when we drafted him. Long haul. It's not like he was an established force who will just return next fall and start dominating.

He was looking dominant when he went down this year. I expect him to be playing like this next year and to be 100%.

Like you said earlier the best relief with this news is there is no mention of ligament or tendon damage. This is purely structural and will heal.

If it was additional ligament or tendon damage that would really, really hurt. All we can hope is the bone heals quick, effectively, and he's able to get back on the court and working out, practicing, and playing as soon possible without any lingering effects.

You guys need to trade him while he still have some value left.

personally I sort of wish some of the on and off the bandwagon types would take up basket weaving or some other hobby

STOMP

I asked that question of myself after game 7.

It's not realistic to expect him to suddenly be in shape and playing as well as he had been playing. Especially since his role will be different when he returns. His role was actually never defined. When Oden comes back, they won't be looking to involve him on offense because they'll be used to play with Joel.

Being a smartass doesn't change the physical evidence so far in GO's career.

Something is wrong with him physically, and he's not going to be a once-in-a-generation center IMO. If that makes me Nostradamus, so be it. The reality is that the season is not over, and the team needs to focus on its next game, and how to win it.

Everyone has their own opinion. You're welcome to yours.

That's what preseason and camp are for.

Some posters have said that they are jumping ship, saying that they don't care about the team (and in some case, sports altogether) now that Greg is out.

And some posters said the season was over after the 2nd game... I guess there are a lot of idiotic opinions floating around.

I'll still watch the games and cheer...but for me this injury changes my expectations for the season. I've been pleasantly surprised the last couple of seasons so I hope to be surprised again.

Um... HCP, this is a Blazer forum. We're all hard core fans here. You're not gonna see any of us jumping ship.

Some of us (like Me) will call for tanking the season and reloading with an even more stacked roster next year, but we're not gonna abandon the team, or Greg.
Yes, at this point go for John Wall. Fuck this season, and even though this goes without saying...Fuck the Lakers may they burn in hell if not in a plane wreck in front of DaRizzle's house.

Realistically, the season looks grim. It's not just the injury to Oden...also losing Batum and Outlaw makes the team very thin, in terms of forwards and centers. Portland has Aldridge, Przybilla and Webster up front and then after that will be praying for contributions from Cunningham.

I think the team could still squeeze into the playoffs if Roy, Aldridge and Miller play very well and if Fernandez and Bayless provide some impact. Really, though, contention this year seems out unless a few players play out of their minds the rest of the way.

I'm obviously still a big fan of the team, and I think Oden will be back at full strength and explosiveness next season. Hopefully, Batum will, too, and Outlaw (yes, I'd like to see him re-signed at a reasonable salary). It's definitely a huge disappointment to have one season nominally "in the window of contention" get ruined, but hopefully this means some time given to guys like Bayless and Fernandez.

I think next season, Portland will be a title contender. This year, I thought they were a contender to reach the WCF, but that's largely out now. Tough night.

I am here and I am still a fan! It was a freak injury, that said I am still amazed how much bad luck Greg has had. I do think the trade market just opened for Rudy & Bayless.

At the end of his 3rd season, Oden will have played 81 games. At the end of his 3rd season, Sam Bowie had played 119.

People need to step away from the kool-aid.
