What say you?

To me it makes sense. With Webster back Travis should be replacing Frye in the rotation. Outlaw plays a better team game, and closer to his potential when he's at PF.

Outlaw creates more of a mismatch on the offensive side of the ball when he's out there at PF, but the he get's abused on D by bigger players. I'd just as soon see him moved for a Millsap/Maxiel backup PF to really cement the rotation, but I can live with him getting 15-20mins a game as long as he plays team ball.

Millsap is going no where. The Jazz love the guy

Unfortunately, Frye gets abused on D as well - so as much as I enjoy Frye as a character - Travis is simply a better player than him.

One other problem I see is with Outlaw at the PF shooting from outside, there's no one inside to help Joel rebound. That's too many wing players surrounding Outlaw in that case. Unless, of course, the shots are dropping with regularity.

Anyone think that Frye is going to be traded? Maybe thats why he has been playing so bad lately because he is upset about news of a trade?

Players are almost always the last to hear about a trade, usually coming about 10 minutes after the team calls the player's agent and tells them their client needs to pack his bags.

when a Big is shooting decently from the outside, the guy who is guarding him (presumably another Big) is also well outside the key. That leaves guys like Rudy scrapping for boards against the Kaponos of the world... or, it's not nearly the problem you make it out to be.

It didn't seem to be working quite that way today... A guy like Rudy is good at collapsing to help scrap for a long rebound, but he's not the type to be in there banging for position. Someone like Bonzi was great at that role.

No, the guy who is guarding him is a few steps closer to the boards.

sorry, but you can't sell that. Boards are usually to be had within 10 feet of the hoop. Somebody contesting a perimeter jumper is well beyond that with their momentum going away from the hoop so the rebound is gathered by someone else a vast majority of the time.

this is pretty simple stuff that we see play out dozens of times in most games.

no doubt that back when Bonzi was a good player, playing inside was his forte. But skinny Rudy did gather 3 offensive boards in the Toronto game. Long shots tend to produce longer boards and having anticipation and quickness to the ball is one way to be an effective rebounder... or, rebounding isn't just about banging for position.

Frye doesn't take those shots with someone in his face. So, Frye shooting a 17 footer has a guy who is at least 3 feet away, who then only has to cover 4 more feet to beat Frye to the rebound. (using your 10 foot rule)

If the other team gets the board, and their guards release we have Frye as the closest guy trying to get back on defense. Wait, did a guard just run past Frye for a layup again? We see that play out billions of times in most games. (yes, literally billions)

Which championship teams had power forwards who weren't Hall of Fame type players shooting jumpers left and right?

I don't know why you want out big guy to shoot jumpers so much, but I suggest you watch the Mavericks more to get your fix.

Watch the video of Frye from his rookie year, I guess he isn't physically as capable as he was then but his mindset is so far from where it should be that I don't know what will happen to his career.

BS... I guess the concept was too tough for you to grasp.

Recently? Rasheed with the Pistons, Horry with the Spurs and Lakers... and what does it matter that KG is going to the HOF? Dude is still popping perimeter jumpers regularly.

because it's a proven successful strategy would be the main reason
