One other problem I see is with Outlaw at the PF shooting from outside, there's no one inside to help Joel rebound. That's too many wing players surrounding Outlaw in that case. Unless, of course, the shots are dropping with regularity.
when a Big is shooting decently from the outside, the guy who is guarding him (presumably another Big) is also well outside the key. That leaves guys like Rudy scrapping for boards against the Kaponos of the world... or, it's not nearly the problem you make it out to be.
sorry, but you can't sell that. Boards are usually to be had within 10 feet of the hoop. Somebody contesting a perimeter jumper is well beyond that with their momentum going away from the hoop so the rebound is gathered by someone else a vast majority of the time.
no doubt that back when Bonzi was a good player, playing inside was his forte. But skinny Rudy did gather 3 offensive boards in the Toronto game. Long shots tend to produce longer boards and having anticipation and quickness to the ball is one way to be an effective rebounder... or, rebounding isn't just about banging for position.
