Nice, Ed. You're a classy guy. You're a moderator of this board and you've chosen to insult me.

Excuse me if I get a little offended when a guy's avatar says "Fuck you" every time he posts. I won't complain about it anymore, however. I can see it's falling on deaf ears.

I never saw a post with him insulting you.

oh...

and...

[Nope]

I apologize, Im just sick of Shooter trashing every thread with his moral superiority complex.

That's an insult? Are you kidding me?

You claimed that everyone knows the rules. And yet you are the only one complaining. That indicates to me a consensus that you are not a part of.

It's no insult to point that out, after you called out blue32's avatar and claimed he is using it to call attention to himself.

Please complain if it makes you feel better. It's a free country :)

I thought we all understood the guidelines.

We do. Bad language is allowed, up to moderator discretion. Ed and barfo can correct me if I'm speaking for them incorrectly, but I think we are concerned with obscenities when they disrupt the discussion. Avatars don't fall into that category, as far as I am concerned.

As for who is running this site, the Blazer board (along with other team boards, I assume) is given general autonomy, so long as it doesn't violate the overall site rules. The site policy allows for obscene language. It's up to the moderators of each forum to apply discretion. I apologize if that's confusing.

Jesus fuck we need Webster back.
are you talking about the Webster that has played for Portland the last few years and is out with a foot injury? At best that guy has been an okay bit player but he's certainly not been a difference maker... more like invisible. Here's hoping for the best and all, but I'm not waiting on that guy.

It appears that Travis Outlaw fans have a hard time dealing with the thought of Martell Webster and Martell Webster fans have a hard time dealing with the thought of Travis Outlaw. As it is now, Martell Webster has produced at a higher level than Travis Outlaw coming out of high school. Will Martell Webster be more productive than Nicholas Batum? I think so, but I do agree that he is a bit of a mystery when thinking of how he will produce when he comes back healthy.

Ahh cool, thanks for the info guys!

Engage!

Who the f do you think you a?...fucker. See my avatar for how to do it son. Totally not gratuitous in the slightest. You really are an uncle fucker aren't you? I think you should spell your screen name blew32.

Blew32? Well, that is just this week... :drumroll:hahahhhahhahahahahahahahahhahahah

Sorry to disrupt the discussion, but sarcasm often does require profanity so it fits in with the "guidelines"

As for Webster, we need that fucker back ASAP

Frye needs to go to the NBDL. I don't think he is allowed to play in the NBDL, but maybe Paul Allen can hire an attorney and appeal that rule. Some game tape of Frye should be quite compelling IMO.

EDIT. took out my avatar because of another thread. sorry. it was funny

To help you with your categorizing me, I'm a Trailblazer fan and don't think that much of Travis. I think even less of Martell because he's been the less productive player at most every facet of the game, but they are both mediocre talents. Believe you me, if it was Travis who was out and Martell was healthy and producing at his normal invisible level, I wouldn't be on here saying... Jesus fuck we need Outlaw back... because thats ridiculous. Both guys are a loooooong ways from being a difference maker.

Satire is difficult to detect on the internet, I understand but "Jesus fuck" was a reply to the one who wanted the language toned down like a Roman Catholic church. Anyways though, I would argue that the comparison between Travis and Martell is a bit irrelevant since we know Outlaw is a horrid starter in this league and Martell is a pretty productive starter in contrast. We know Outlaw will be a backup, whether that be a backup 3 or 4, he is and forever will be a backup. So the question is, who would you rather start? Martell or Batum? I think Martell IS a difference maker when looking at the alternative in Batum, who is most often not a difference maker, at least now.

This thread makes me laugh! I almost don't know how to comment on it without insulting Shooter, so let me just say that I'm in the camp that is not offended by four letter words, even if they are occasionally in caps!

Too funny...

I do not really see any issue with the avatar as well, FWIW.

If the avatar is really that distracting - there is always the option of turning avatars off.

I think that the problem is correctly summarized by the Ferrengi Rules of Acquisition #47:
"Never trust a man wearing a better suit than your own"

Put an F word in your avatar Shooter and the world will look better to you.

i <3 all the star trek lovers on here :)

Martell has been below average at most every facet of the game that counts as productive... check the stats/box scores if you need a reminder of what I meant by invisible. He's a mediocre defender on a good night but does a spot on Washington General impersonation on far too many others. He has a very poor handle for a swing man and can't create shots for himself let alone others... it's rare for him to get to the line. What he can do with some proficiency is stand in the corner waiting for the ball to be swung to him and make wide open 3's at a decent clip. Of course both Batum and Travis are filling this role and hitting the 3 ball at much better rates then Martell has ever posted. Here's guessing with increased competition, Martell will be struggling with his confidence yet again.

alrighty then. We've stated our views and are worlds apart. I'm looking forward to seeing this play out

You're one of those people that likes to perpetuate stereotypes, aren't you? Well, obviously Martell wasn't that great his first couple years, but from what I saw last year, and this preaseason...his defense has drastically improved and his overall energy level and court sense has improved ten-fold. Perhaps Rudy can show him a thing or two concerning running screens...

feel free to point out where the stats reflect these improvements you're referring to last year over the "not that great first couple years."

dude played one pre-season game in a 29 point blowout of the Kings who were missing their two best players. Using that single preseason game as any sort of evidence for "improved defense" is pretty funny. My comments on his bad D was mostly based on what I saw out of him last year when he became a starter by default (if you recall James Jones was penciled in to be the starter but was injured) and Nate made comments early on that he hoped MW could become a defensive stopper. Though I'd have loved to, my eyes were not treated to seeing any of that sort of play. As the season went along, we saw that he was rarely in with the game on the line in the 4th. As the old saying goes, actions speak louder then words and obviously Nate wasn't seeing it either. KP was so taken by Martell's D that he openly pined for a defensive wing option throughout the season and then traded up for Batum in the draft siting his defense. 19 year old Batum has overwhelmingly been showered with praise for his D and court smarts by a vast majority of posters here.

So siding with stats management & the local diehards, is it really me who is perpetuating false stereotypes?
