LHP - C.C. Sabathia (1-1, 5.28 ERA)

VS.

LHP - Martin Perez (0-2, 4.50 ERA)

Fun quiz: Thursday marks the 27th anniversary of Rickey Henderson setting a major league record with his 36th career lead off home run against the white sox at Yankee stadium. Whose record did he break.

Lineups to follow............

...^^^as bad as their offense was over the weekend Texas was due for an outbreak...now at home and facing CC, I can understand Texas being favored.

...and needless to say, the Yanx' offense needs to wake the f' up.

Speaking of offense Ron, here's the lineup & look who's back..........

CF - Ellsbury (253)
LF - Gardner (271)
RF - Beltran (264)
1B - Teixeira (254)
DH - A-Roid (145)
C - McCann (259)
2B - Castro (278)
3B - Headley (157)
SS - Torreyes (471)

With our big guns back in the lineup (A-Rod & Headley) how can we lose.

Bobby Bonds....

on this date, today, 30 years ago, who hit his 300th HR; to be the 4th man to ever enter the 300 Hr and 300 SB club, and who did He tie...?

You've got me completely stumped on this one Rob. I know its only been accomplished by 6-7 players & I can't think of any that could have done it in 86.

Ah shit, (no sleep last night for me), I screwed your pooch on this one Rick, typo, s/b 96, sorry buddy....give it another shot my friend....now that I gave you the right year....

I'd say Barry Bonds but he was the 3rd player to hit that mark behind his dad & his godfather. I really can't think who did it in 96 as the 4th player. You got me stumped Rob. I give up.

Tough question. I would guess it was the
one year Baltimore Oriole wonder Brady
Anderson!

^^^^I don't think Anderson ever hit 300 HRs & I'm not sure he stole 300 bases either.

I've found conflicting reports on Bonds 300th HR; within the same source. Take a look- one says (from same source)** - Hit this day in 96, 2nd Metric (same source)** - states: hit #300 on May 30, 1995.

a 3rd source*** states, Bonds hit #300 on this date in 96.

*** http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_29803577/this-date-baseball

Dawson accomplished the feat at the 3rd player, on 23 April 1989...
1996 — Barry Bonds became the fourth major leaguer to amass 300 homers and 300 steals when he homered in the third inning of the San Francisco Giants' 6-3 victory over the Florida Marlins. His father, Bobby Bonds, godfather Willie Mays and Andre Dawson are the only other players to reach 300-300.

Here is the conflict: same source too, guess its time to write a quick note to the editor-

take a look at: Members of the 300-300 club
then look at: 300-300-2000 club

of course there are now 8 players in the 300/300 club

Another reason I can't stand Cone in the booth.......

SINGLETON> "David what does it mean to have Alex back in the lineup?"

CONE> "Oh its big Kenny, having that big bat in the middle of the lineup is just the thing the Yankees need to jump start this offense".

Seriously? Has this asshole been watching any of the games.

Rick I laughed at this because I was thinking the same thing, I said are you serious???

Headly is now 8 for 53 batting .151. When will they make it stop?

Just got in, so let me get this straight, alky has a decent game, the druggist has two extra base hits, and this team is still getting its ass kicked. Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can't anymore with this offense. Ellsbury 0-4, Gardner 0-4, and Headley is completely useless. You're simply not going to score runs and win like this.

A total of 6 runs in the entire series. This offense is pathetic.

2 for his last 24 & on the year no extra base hits only 2 rbi & an OBP of .227

This is the third baseman. It's a disgrace. It's not even an exaggeration to say he's not hitting at all.

I know its early but, at the rate they're going the Yankees may not see 500 all season.

Girardi will end up being the scapegoat for Cashman's mess. I also question how good a lot of these prospects the Yankees have are. As they reach 24-25 isn't it time to see something instead of constantly stashing them in the minors? Frankly, I don't think many of them are all that good. Even if some might be who will ever get the chance when long term contracts clog up the system? Even the Red Sox learned that even if it takes a couple of tanked seasons you have to be in position to turn the roster over. More over they still have done nothing to replace the level of hitter that Cano was for them in the lineup. I didn't want Cano back for the ten years of a contract he would never live up to. That said you cannot lose that production, have your other hitters continue to regress and then be shocked that your offense really isn't all that good. When the long ball isn't there for this group they can do little else to score runs.

...yup...I saying earlier that if things don't turn around by the AS break, Girardi will get canned. We've been fooled by the Yankees propaganda and hype machine to believe there were youngsters/top prospects waiting in the wings...as far as position players, when was the last time a Yankees prospect actually made an impact or became a star?...Cano?...that was over 10 years ago.

...but yeah, let's give Cashman another raise and an extension for the great job he's done.
