The highlight game was against the Clippers on April 8th when they were 1/2 game behind Golden State with 2 games left in the season.

Seems like a bit more than a glorified summer league game.

One thing I can judge. Eric Gordon doesn't affect Knox when he's shooting the ball.

Nah FAMS.....they were double teaming Shae that whole game. If you think this guy isn't anything more than a 10th or 11th guy......you're setting yourself up for a letdown. (which isn't really very rare around here)
But what do I know, I'm the forum "hater" because I don't think everyone of our players isn't headed to the HOF.

there may be HOF players in the next 3 upcoming drafts, so technically ALL the Blazers could help acquire the next HOF Blazer.

Knox is the type of player who can be elevated by a passing point guard like Scoot Henderson.

The passing point guard keeps Knox from doing too much with the ball, and allows him to focus on getting to the right spot and putting the ball in the bucket.

In this game Knox had 30 points (11-15, 5-8 on threes) and 11 rebounds.

I remember that game, i watched him live, he was on fire from everywhere. Also, he isn't a bad defender at all. I think re-signing him was a good move

So if you start Grant and Shae will they continue to double Shae.....leaving someone like Knox open? I agree that he is best as a 10th or 11th guy, but if he can be an effective role player with the starters maybe he does get more minutes.....based on the current makeup of the team. He has good size for an SF and has a decent wing span. All he needs to do is rebound, play defense, and hit an open 3 to contribute. Of course, he will eventually need to be replaced by someone who can create their own shot, but right now we don't have that unless we move Shae to SF....and we don't want to go small again.

I’m not saying he is as good at all so please don’t take this that way. Knox seems like an Aaron Gordon type player.

Be nice if it was an NBA roster
The Blazers "NBA" team right now would probably sweep team USA from the FIBA competition so I think the "NBA" players you're talking about are not dominating todays game. These new young guys who've been riding the pine and are hungry will surprise some teams. Nobody wanted Watford when we picked him up and now he got a contract before Dwight Howard or Hassan Whiteside so shit happens. I'm less worried about us not having an NBA roster than I am about not having an NBA coach.

Unfortunately I’m starting to feel the same way on the coach part. I really wanted Chauncey to be a very good coach.

I think Chauncey is a better fit in the front office and would make a better "life" coach than "NBA" coach....I too hope I'm wrong but I think Dame wanting to leave after watching Spoelstra take a bottom seed to the finals and weighing that against Chauncey's blown endgames and poor defensive schemes with his "zone" solution played a bigger part in the decision than the roster or the draft picks. We gave a prime time Dame a rookie head coach and fired the guy who brought him to his level of fame. Doesn't get talked about much. Chauncey tanked to a horrible first two year win loss record.

fans were allowed to jump all over Stotts for coaching blunders. But if you emphasize Coach Billups mistakes, then you must be a troll from Miami that needs to leave Blazer fans alone.

Seriously. People were calling out Stotts for decisions he made in the 2nd quarter of games they won. It was crazy stuff?

Or...How about we call out both coaches for decisions with which we disagree?

At this point Chauncey has made it to the playoffs zero times. Billups has a 62-104 coaching record with a staggering .373 winning percentage.
One is not like the other...
Don't think anyone ever said they--or their circumstances--were the same.

I don't think that's fair because it's avoiding context. I never liked using direct results to analyze coaching and this is why. The Blazers were 2.5 games out of HCA at the deadline when they blew it up. Stotts had many late-season runs. Chauncey didn't get the chance. His first season he didn't have Dame.

That being said, Chauncey hasn't been good. But that's based on his coaching decisions.

I do agree with the context portion of your statement for sure. However eventually direct results do come into play. I also kind of expected bad coaching from a rookie coach. Eventually he isn't a rookie coach any longer.
With the circumstances he has been given I would assume he needs to start turning this ship around fairly soon or he will not be around for when Sharpe and Scoot are coming into their own.
I wonder what a more experienced coach could do with these guys?

Can we trade Dame and Chauncey for Jovic Jaquez and Spo?

we're using the Kevin Knox thread to discuss Chauncey's coaching. It's not fair to Kevin, how did all this start?

Because Blazer fans DO NOT like to talk about Billups bad coaching. And it somehow warped into the Kevin Knox thread.

Cronin said he didn't "deal Chauncey a good hand."
What hand did Damian get dealt? Lillard was the team captain, was his hand any better?

Lillard tried to make it work,
Billups tried to make it work,
Who was dealing the bad cards from the deck?
The #3 lottery pick became the consolation prize after dealing marked dueces into a stack of paint cards.

I guess if everyone from all sides just say the other was dealt a bad hand they can all get another year or two or maybe even three before they have to look for another job?
But Chauncey was a Finals MVP right?

Kevin Knox with a great game yesterday for the Pistons. I would’ve like to keep him over signing Ish Wainright.

18 points, 7/8 FG, 4/5 3PFG, 3 REB, 1 STL
