I was at that game, and it was even weirder. They had 8 guys but in reality one of their 8 active players was injured (ankle or something). When one of their players fouled out (in fact it might have been their third, leaving them with only five players with fouls to give), the GSW coach wanted to envoke the "bring back a fouled out player" rule but the problem was, the refs made the coach put in their 8th legal player, the guy who was injured. They made him take his brace off, go in the game, then foul us to stop play and leave the game because of "an injury". Then Golden State brought back in a fouled out player, and subsequently won the game against us.

IT WAS SURREAL.

Looks like it was even weirder than I remember, with two players injured and active, with both having to come in, then leave with an injury to envoke the rule.

Looking at our lineup and bench, it's not a surprise that we lost. Diener 13 minutes?

Nik is rarely seen here these days. I'm guessing it will take a losing streak to bring back his "knowledge" to the board.

Win or lose I haven't been around for awhile. Busy.

Some day this thread may be really funny to read.

It's amazing how fast fortunes can turn. The bastards scammed me again. :smiley-grom:

After reviewing this thread, I can see truth on both sides.

I want to say that we don't know what's actually going on at One-Center Court on a day to day basis and they only let us now about 1%-2% of the things that are actually happening. With that disclaimer being made, I don't see Portland with a first round selection this year as that pick is going to complete the Gerald Wallace trade. With no 1st round draft pick, that really only leaves Portland with the option to trade players or get players in free agency in order to make this team better.

This is not a loaded question but how does Portland get better in the off-season when they never really have been a hotbed for landing the elite level free agents that push the needle upwards? To me, and staying true to the Paul Allen era, I think that they have to create a trade or two. If that is the road we are going down then I would look around the league to see who's having a dumpster sale and has resources for Portland to steal something from them.

Don't forget that we only have the MLE to work with, in terms of free-agency. The MLE isn't going to get a player who'll take you to the next level. We can get a bench player - hopefully a productive one. That in and of itself might be enough to take a small step towards the next level, but probably won't be enough to take us to the Finals level. So really our only options for dramatically improving the team are through trades or coaches.

The X factor at the deadline is how desparately many teams want to tank this season. It'll be a fire sale in the race to the bottom.
