A little off topic, but I saw video coordinator positions in all their bios iirc. Does anyone know what they do and if there's any significance to that position being a stepping stone to eventually coaching? I've noticed this in the past pretty often, too.

I believe a lot of what the video coordinator does is put together and analyze film for scouting of teams and players. I gotta imagine it's great experience for then becoming an assistant or head coach, as you spend your entire job analyzing offense and defense around the league, surely you're bound to be able to grab a little for yourself of what looks like it works well on offense and defense.

If it's like I did in college, part of it is recording practices and games and then maybe editing it or breaking it down for the coaches to demonstrate to the players. I wouldn't be surprised if at the NBA level they're also breaking down video of the other teams for the scouting report.

It got me into the office and locker room as part of the discussions with the coaches on what they wanted me to focus on, what they were seeing on the video, self-scouting, a bit of scouting on upcoming opponents, gameplanning. Basically, you get a lot of exposure to development and scouting that you can carry into coaching.

I honestly think the only thing we need to have extremely good ball movement is to get rid of Ant and Jerami. When those two guys are out the ball does tend to zip around quite a bit... we also push it in the secondary break more. That being said, I'm all for a coach or an entire staff that will hold guys accountable for ball stopping on offense.

I did it with our old video coordinator John Yim down in Vegas for summer league for 2 weeks just for the experience about 12 years ago. It was a blast.
 
I am just now seeing that we also let Coach Tyndale go. Did I miss this? Obviously.
Well this one really shocks me.

The Portland Trail Blazers have announced the addition of three new assistant coaches, Quinton Crawford, Tiago Splitter and Patrick St. Andrews.
Also, an NBA source has told The Oregonian/OregonLive that assistant coach Mark Tyndale will not be retained to coach Chauncey Billups’ staff.
