Not that ref

There's a saying among referees:

Have a patient whistle. Start, develop, finish.

You always blow your whistle during the finish of the play. That ref had a quick whistle and blew it during the development stage of the play.

But you always agree with referees...

Odd you would say that since I said in another post that I didn't think it was a foul.

must've missed that. The whole time it seemed you were arguing for the ref...

I will say one thing after watching some highlights of this kid one of the first thing that stand out to me.... absolutely great footwork. Probably the best of any big in the draft. But he''ll probably have to get over that White American Center Pronation Bias.... tough thing that. Oh the hostility that has crippled many strong men! :ghoti:

Yeah, he has to overcome some really big adversity.... Quick told me

Can't wait for the Summer League though. Once he puts on a few pounds and works on his core strength..... look out.

Watched some of Zach Collins back HS today just to see him in a different setting and I think his feel as a passer is better than you'd think if you just watched during his year at Gonzaga. Nothing really advanced, but read double teams well and can hit cutters.

I have watch some too it like he was more of passer in HS than he was in college. I know he came around in strength in college wasnt real strong in HS. If he continue get stronger he will be good addition for us.

Swanigan showed such a high level/elite feel I totally forgot about Collins.

And Collins was my #1 target since last winter.

Yeah, i just LOVE it when a ref blows his whistle to call a foul before the foul even happens, especially when, oops, there was no foul. Happens in the NBA more than it should

He needs to get his self confidence in check. Nobody will make it in the NBA if they are that down on themselves.

Let the Meyers comparisons continue?

Meyers always seemed like a goof.

Zach seems much more intense than that.... and his dad looks like a real piece of work. Strikes me as the kind of guy that screams at the umpire during a little league game.

Really ? I don't think he lacks self confidence.
I'd rather have a guy who understand he played meh and says he's gotta get better than Meyers fucking Leonard who thinks he has a huge impact on the court.

So you're saying, start up the Kevin Love comparisons?

I know you didn't. Just speaking generally.

We have had other guys that had confidence issues.

Martell Webster
Sebastian Telfair
Allen Crabbe

Frankly, if I was drafting talent, I'd stay away from players that had issues like that. I want guys like Dame and CJ. Guys that are focused like a laser. Guys that have proven their doubters wrong and want more. I love that kind of player.

This is a good point. There is a fine line between using failure or challenges to motivate yourself to get better (Dame) and getting down on yourself in a negative way (above list). Not sure where ZCo is going to end up, but he seems to be riding the line closer than I would like. He needs Dame in his ear telling him not to get too high or too low.

Can we even be making assessments like this when he has yet to play even a minute of NBA basketball?

Nah, I don't see that in him at all. I see him telling himself, "that performance sucked, I'm better than that, I'll get 'em next time". I don't think he's lacking in confidence at all, and I'm not even a little bit worried about his attitude.
