We have had other guys that had confidence issues.

Martell Webster
Sebastian Telfair
Allen Crabbe

Frankly, if I was drafting talent, I'd stay away from players that had issues like that. I want guys like Dame and CJ. Guys that are focused like a laser. Guys that have proven their doubters wrong and want more. I love that kind of player.

The flip side is someone like Darius Miles or most of Dion Waiters' career--delusionally confident in their abilities, despite not having sufficient game to make that work.

Honestly, I'm not even convinced guys like Crabbe and Leonard lack confidence. I think they're aware of their limits. Crabbe doesn't shoot contested shots because he can't do it well. If he could, I think he'd be firing away. Same for Leonard. Leonard is a slow processor (by NBA standards) and by the time he's ready to shoot or pass, he's no longer open or the passing lane is no longer there.

Waiters Island was pretty good for Miami last year. Dont disagree, just sayin' he had a good year and his irrational confidence was a big part of it. Just say Nick Young and everyone can get onboard lol

Can we even be making assessments like this when he has yet to play even a minute of NBA basketball?

Duh, it's off season. Speculating and assessing with little or no information is all we have. Get your head in the game. :cowboy:

Would it be weird of me to think that his mom was very pretty. But no offense meant Mr. Collins (very large dad).

14.5 PER

Great job, Soup Juggler. You're still not as good as the average

Re-watched his SL performance vs the Celtics and forgot how damn impressive he was defensively in that game. Looked more comfortable offensively too, but shots just didn't fall.

For all the love Swanigan has gotten this Summer, I'd still bet on Collins getting more playing time this year.

The fuck is a soup juggler?

Another lame attempt at a lame nickname.

Did I mention it was lame?

Just in case I didn't, for the record, it was, is and always will be lame.

BNM

That's some funny shit right there and just proves how much of a nerd I am. To me, that's much better nickname than this Butters bullshit. :dunno:

BNM
I still don't understand what it is that makes Meyers "Butters". No clue. At least I get the soup juggler reference.

Do you watch south park?
I have seen probably a half dozen episodes. Brilliant satire. I just need someone to explain the connection/similarity to the Butters character.

Butters is a real softy. Soft minded, etc.

Lets revisit the latter half of this thread. Shall we.

Well they went him in the 4th and he deliver. One thing I like about him on offense he never stop moving and that has made him to have easy shots this preseason.

What was his stat line, and how did he do? All I've been able to find on YouTube is a 1:25 clip of highlights from the game.

I admit to being one of his doubters. But I'm very pleased to see him coming along thus far in preseason.

12pts on 4 of 6 shooting
1 for 2 on 3 pointers
3 for 4 at the line
2 rebounds
In 20 minutes.
Plus minus 25.

I can't wait to see this kid after he realizes he belongs in the league.

Collins is going to be good. He's clearly our starting PF of the future in my mind, even if he may not start this year. Even at 19, you can see the makings of an excellent defender, quick, balanced, instinctive, very long. We know he has a good 3pt shot. I've seen videos of him training 3 after 3 in practice and he beat anthony morrow in the teams 3pt shooting contest. He's also flashed very good passing ability.

And hell, you saw him dunk the ball in preseason when he got the ball in the paint rather than panicing and putting up a floater...so put the Meyers Leonard comparsisons to bed.
