Give it a few years; Bennett is soaring down the charts.
It's just so f'ing awesome that once a year we get to pick this scab.
I like that they're going old school and bringing back the LaRue Classic.
Luckily my Blazer fandom doesn't have those scars.

Isn't there yet another documentary about the 84 draft coming out too?
Yep. 30th anniversary of Portland being humiliated yet again!
Wait wait wait...the Blazers could've drafter Jordan instead!?
Why have I never heard this!?
The case could be made that had Jordan never "retired" from the Bulls the first time, that Olajuwon never would have won a title in Houston, and Jordan could have won 8 straight titles. The world will never know, though.

It's what I believe, to be honest.
And if the Pistons drafted Melo they would've been a dynasty.

They won a title with Darko.![]()
They beat the Spurs the following year with Melo and beyond that, who knows?
Would Houston then be mocked over Portland? Or was having Hakeem take them to two Finals, and then losing to the Bulls, enough to justify that pick. It's a fun hypothetical, isn't it?
I don't think Houston would've been mocked, because they went to the Finals in 86, and most likely would've gone to the finals in those two years anyways.
And Hakeem was arguably one of the best Cs in the game for most of the 80s and 90's, whereas Bowie wasn't.
So Oden is #2 when they acknowledge his potential and bad luck, yet Brown and Candy are #3 and #4 when most saw those as big risks based on the fact those were guys that didn't do much (until they showed potential and their physical characteristics were reviewed during draft work outs)? Makes sense. Not.
Oden was clearly a bust. But their analysis makes little sense for those three positions. Brown and Candy were simply stupid picks. Oden's busted-ness is simply due to bad luck (despite the fact some thought this fate would be his - the talent was there).
But because of his potential, wouldn't that make him ultimately the bigger bust? Regardless of circumstances, you could be 10, but you're 1. Whereas those 2 could have been a 6, 7, maybe 8, but they were a 1, 2.
