We're in meltdown!

Do you even read your own posts?? You claimed that I was the only one on the board who was stunned, and that it hadn't occurred to anyone else to be stunned. Turns out that you had your head up your ass, or else you were just being an arrogant prick. Or maybe both.
I disagree with the arrogant part

You expected to lose Aldridge, Matthews, Batum, Lopez, Afflalo, and Blake after the season ended??

There's actually a significant difference between what I said and what you interpreted, even though the word "expected" was principle in both. I didn't specifically expect every one of those moves, no, but all of them (with the exception of the Batum trade which I specifically singled out) was pretty well known to be a possibility. It was reasonable to think Robin Lopez would price himself out of what the Blazers were comfortable spending...there was plenty of speculation about that. The same was true of Wes Matthews, exacerbated by his torn ACL. Aldridge was always considered a significant flight risk.

Who cares about Affalo and Blake? I had no expectations one way or the other about them.

As I said, the Batum trade was the one move that wasn't particularly telegraphed ahead of time, but it wasn't a shocking deal.

So while I didn't specifically predict all of these things, since they were all within the realm of reasonable expectation, this off-season hasn't left me stunned in the least.

Hate to say it because it's pretty unpopular around here, but I am pretty excited about the team. Many on these boards thought of Rolo as a "backup" because he wasn't a regular starter before this. However, he wasn't given a chance. When we gave him that chance, he excelled. I think the same thing applies to a lot of our new players. Athletic Lottery picks who have some experience, but not a chance for prime time.

Maybe the best running and dunking team since the Drexler Blazers.... and we still have Lillard. In fact, we have him locked up for 6 more years.

While maybe not "expected" I was certainly far from "stunned".

I remember on a TV broadcast, the commentator was saying how Nick Young of the Lakers got a huge contract, because the Lakers had to use up their cap space for the year. So will we be giving Alonzo Gee and Joel Freeland max deals?

You don't have to use up your cap space. Theoretically, you have to reach the salary floor, but even that doesn't ultimately matter much. The "punishment" for not doing so is dividing the difference between your actual payroll and the team salary floor among your players. The Sixers have done it once or twice. The Blazers are well over the salary floor, though.

We have a ton of cap space, and no targets to give it to. All that's left is backup types..

Is Neil taking the weekend off?

Since this is now officially a rebuild (official the moment Aldridge went to San Antonio), that's fine. They can save that cap space and either use it for trades to pick up a good player someone wants to dump for cap space, or else use it next year. I mean, Durant isn't walking through that door, but perhaps the Blazers can strike quickly on a mid-tier free agent or two while other teams are waiting on the top guys.

I started my thread right after we learned that Lopez and Matthews were definitely leaving. That's basically when we all knew this crap was real. It's also worth pointing out that the first person who responded to this thread said that he was about to make the same kind of post, but that I had beaten him to it. But go ahead and "have your fun," my friend. You aren't important enough to waste any more time responding to.

What about all the other people who responded to your thread?

You know I was JUST thinking we needed a thread like this. Weird!

WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER THREAD ON THIS. HOLY FUCK PEOPLE!

Fuck! We are gonna get fucked by giant cocks!

Shooter, you have been partying too hard man. Ease up on the weed.

DAMMIT!!! SERRIOUSY? ANOTHER THREAD??????????????

This couldn't have just been a post in one of the many threads all discussing the same damn thing? IS this an attention thing or something?

What do you call it when you keep rehashing the same thing over and over in new threads with the same consequences, yet somehow expecting different results?

Actually getting frustrated over here....

I rely on the great people of this forum for info and entertainment and right now, EVERYONE is waiting for the post that breaks the news. NOw we have another thread to sift through...
Enough is enough already....

There is a thread about caring whether Rolo leaves. This could have been posted there.
There is a thread on free agency. IT could have been posted there.
ETC>
ETC>
ETC.

.

Wait, free agency started?

Has anything big happened?

Well, as Sly suggested, you may not have been reading the other threads then. Once it was mentioned that Wes was seeking $15M, and that there was a decent chance someone might give it to him, most assumed he wouldn't be back. As for Rolo, I myself posted more than once that bringing him back at an eight-figure salary would be irresponsible given his role on the team, and several others have said the same.

Sure, I would have loved to bring everyone back for another run, but anyone playing attention knew it simply wasn't going to happen. This really isn't a massive shock to anyone but you.

Sure, but "upset" is not "stunned". Big difference. HUGE!

If you don't respond to a thread, it falls right off the page. People never realize this. They are feeding the thread with their complaints. Personally, I'm fine with the thread.

This thread makes all of my teeth skin peel. I have eleven fortune cookies.

See Sly? Now another conversation, which is really the same conversation goin on in another thread ABOUT WES. :)

There are only really about 5 different topics of discussion but happening in 20 different places and growing. Not asking to delete the thread or anything at this point. Im not a snob... just this thread is a rehash.

Big cocks need extra lube or extra force.

You make it sound like I was the only one who thought your thread was a little.... redundant. Again, 1000s of posts in threads for people who are stunned, upset, a whole range of emotions yet you seemed to have come to the conclusion that you're the only one stunned or upset.

But it is nice that you called me a friend. I think of you as one too.

I think they should just sign Sergio, Green and Gee.

I think they should sign Jeremy Lin to a 16 million dollar one year deal. The Asian community would love us!

How about Sergio, Green, and Wesley Johnson?
I like Gee because he's a great defender and fits in with the style of play we seem to be building here....I wish he had gotten more playing time last year.

Yeah. My only issue is he's redundant now. We need some guys who can put the ball in the hoop reliably other than by dunking it. We have athletes and dunkers now.

But Johnson is not really that much better of a shooter than Gee. At least Gee gives you top notch defense.

Oh really? I didn't know that. I haven't looked at stats but for some reason I thought Johnson was a decent shooter.

He is decent, but so is Gee. Gee is a career 33% shooter from 3. His mid range game really sucks though.

Then you are part of the 1 percent.

I'm sure he was stunned like everyone else about the Texas Turncoat.

However, after the traitor confirmed his lie, I'm sure he understood that Fropez and Wesley would not be back. I'm sure he wasn't surprised about AA leaving or Batum being traded (as many were clamoring for them not to return).
