Yes we are and yes I'm very sure he is getting better care but also I feel he is pushing quite a bit harder than I am. 8 weeks just seems like the very best he is going to do. They are calling it a tear. Not a strain. Love to see him in November but I'm not counting on that at all.

Dame was a below average defender, and I'm not sure he held the franchise back. He wasn't the reason why we couldn't get past the WCF. I'd actually say it was our above average defending forwards that held us back.

1. Jrue is good. Like, really good. Old, but still good. Ayton not so much.
2. Jrue is also a world-class person. Just one of the best human beings in the league. I think Cronin cares about team character and I think he's right to. Ayton isn't a bad person, he's just goofy. And that annoys the fuck out of his coaches.

Of course they do. But they can fuck off - he's ours.

Look, I understand people don't like that he's old and his contract is big. But he's still fucking good, one of the top guard defenders in the league and will be a lot more valuable at the trade deadline if you want to offload him then.

Wouldn't we have had to say he was basically washed to have been "wrong"? He's playing great. I figured he'd play well if he was healthy.

Is he going to play like this all season? I don't know... But if he's healthy I don't see why he wouldn't.

There was a recent Locked on Blazers episode (linked below) where Mike interviewed players and coaches about NBA practice norms in today's game. To boil it down, there is very little practicing done during the season. The vast reduction of back to backs and 4 games in 5 nights leaves less gaps in the schedule for teams to practice and rest between games is of course now prioritized. The improvement of young guys who aren't playing much falls more and more to them doing individual workouts with assistant coaches/trainers. Hansen has plenty to gain working on his body and just physically maturing and I'm sure the development of his skills/game is being prioritized by the staff, but it likely isn't being done very much going up against Clingan. We don't have to look past Donovan's improvement from last year to this to see that it can be done

I think everyone knew how good Jrue HAS been. Again, he has always been a kryptonite to Dame.

Father time is undefeated. While I LOVE his game, we will see how he holds up this season. At some point the cliff will start to happen, and he is paid a lot over the next few years.

I'm hoping once Scoot comes back that Jrue can stay fresh the rest of the year and continue playing at the level he is.

Yeah, they said they would re-evaluate him in 4-8 weeks. Hope it’s sooner. Not sure Jrue can keep this pace up.

Wouldn't that require you to be able to even imagine what being in game shape is like? Jrue, older, not injured, playing great....Scoot, much younger, banged up before the season opener. Unable to play for months. Kinda shoots your idea in the foot eh? I understand you're reeling from your Lakers getting embarrassed by "old Jrue" the other night.
 
Simons is playing a lot better this season as well, now that he's not being asked to carry the load on offense. The guy was always going to be a better option off the bench. He's back to his efficiency from the 21-22 season when we still had Norm and CJ.

I just can't be bothered to get worked up about the cap numbers when we don't even know if shaedon or scoot are going to be 'the guys' in the future for this team. grant could be gone. we have like 1.5 tentpole players on the team at this point.

this summer the punitive cba narrative was so thoughtfully messaged by front offices that they got fans to buy in on dumping really good players. in my day, fire sales were way less popular and involved angry talk radio segments and pitchforks.

now it's 'amazing job by stevens to duck the apron!' or whatever. you can't make me care that much about it.

I think it is more of an expectation vs hope. :)
