I was hoping he'd be there 12/3 when Dallas comes to town. Sounds like that might not happen. :(

props to dallas for injuring him then paying him big money. at least they took care of him. I love wes but I can't help but thank Olshey for not listening to us fans.

How is it that in the nearly three months since he signed his deal, that fact never occurred to me? :smiley-bonk:

Sure. But all the talk of actually being ready on day 1 is another thing.

I'm sure he tried his best and thought it was possible. He's overcome doubts his whole life. I'm fine with us not resigning him but Wes doesn't talk for nothing. He may not attain every goal he sets but I believe he gave it his all and he believed it was a possible goal.

Common sense should come in to play though. No one, not even Wes comes back that soon from an Achilles.

Wes knew that he wasn't going to be ready. The joke is on Cuban, players and fans. I'm glad we didn't re-sign him.

Just hit me that Wes got injured in the Mavs game. doh.... full circle

Sad fact is, he's making more than Kyrie, John Wall, Cousins and Harden.

It's that drive, that desire to push himself is what has made him the highest undrafted player in NBA history. Sure, he didn't come back as soon as he wanted but you know he tried at least as hard if not harder then anyone else who has had that injury. Do you think Oden did everything he could to come back from MF surgery? You're knocking him for setting tough goals and pushing himself to meet them. You said his goal to be ready for opening night was just all talk. Sorry, but it wasn't.

Sorry but I think Wes is over hyping his time table and that's what motivates him. Hard working guy but he does have a history of forcing the healing process and has admitted it..said his achilles had been tender for a couple seasons before he snapped it. I'm glad he got paid but I'm not as optimistic that he's going to be the same player he was or stay healthy for long stretches.

WTF?!? He has a history of playing thru injuries. Suddenly that becomes forcing the healing process? Well shit, I guess I was looking at Batum all wrong last season. He wasn't being a huge disappointment, he just wasn't forcing the healing process.

And having a tender body part means a major injury will happen?

So, for Wes's next trick he's going to live to 300 years old. In his mind he may think it's realistic. No one doubts his work ethic, it's his contact with reality. Maybe some agree with Wes that he should be his team's "go to" guy? I loved Wes while he was here, but he's not looking back, so neither am I.

you missed my point...for the last two years Wes kept saying he needed to not force his recovery and be impatient...then did the opposite. He's talking that line in Dallas now. I think it's a mistake to rush back and know he has a tendency to do that..Batum led the league in minutes pretty much and both he and Wes played through injury but in the case of ruptured achilles....it's not smart to say he's ready for opening night in Dallas...just not smart.

It's a huge difference in trying to live to be 300 years old vs just telling people you want to live to be 300 years old. People are accusing Wes of just saying he wants to be back by the start of the season, I think he sincerely tried.
