chucker. pure and simple. /s

We need to trade him now, because I foresee that in two years he's going to tear his bi-lateral meniscus cruciate ligament and be a shell of his former self. Lets trade him for Zach Randolph. He's shown he can take an injury. /s

I'd like to see his rebounding and assist numbers increase, but he's a very pleasant surprise.

He's been a pretty big surprise, that's for sure.

He's taken advantage of the opportunity and produced. I still don't really like his game and think he needs to pass more, off the dribble. Once he gets that down, he'll become much tougher to guard.

Your not going to believe this, but Nate has admitted that they don't run any plays for Mathews.

See the question here about Wesley as a go to guy on the team.

Shouldn't you try and make a couple of plays designed to get Mathews the ball once-in-a-while?

this might be a matter of Nate's semantics. Portland moves the ball & sets screens trying for a good look the first 18 seconds of the clock and Wes is often the benefactor of this. They aren't specifically running a play for him (or anyone else) but because he can both shoot it from deep and put it on the floor and drive he has many opportunities to score. The last seconds of the clock he's usually a deep relief valve on Miller or Roy drive and kicks... again the play isn't being run for him, but if he's left open he gets to let fly. Over his last 10 games he's averaging 14.5 FGA so it's not like he's being frozen out of the offense. He's not the go to guy that you give the ball with 5 seconds left to go against a set defense as he's not the greatest at gaining separation for a look or setting up others

I was wrong about him when we signed him. He has been amazing.

For $9 million, he had better be a franchise player.

I was right about him when we signed him.....Every team team needs someone like Wes. 6 million a year is fare value.

^It's about time you were right about something.

I know this. I was just doing my best PapaG impression.

I knew that. But I as asumming many don't. As I watch the NBA league Pass every night, the other teams TV guys don't seem to. But they sure are changing their tune about his value.

Did I miss the part where the Blazers are playing winning basketball? As of now, Matthews has proved he can be a slightly better-than-average player on a slightly worse-than-average team.

The Blazers are 2-3 Matthews' starts. I'm not sure the move to the starting line-up can be considered a success at this point.

We should have a way to find out everybody on S2 PER! I'd be rocking at least a 25 right now!

lol, so now thats your argument. A team is 1 game under .500 and thus since they don't have a winning record every player on the teams stats are meaningless? Take Matthews off this team and we don't win the past 2 games. Period.

Silly stand to take. But, I don't put it past you.

As I said in another thread, the Wes Matthews era coincides nicely with the death of dreams. Matthews has destroyed this franchise. This was a 50+ win team before Matthews got here.
