I thought the flagrant called against Parsons was iffy at best. It looked like incidental contact while Parsons was going for the ball.

I credit Harden for being a bonehead on the last play. The ball ultimately should have been in his hands at the end, but... He ran to Beverly who was bringing the ball up over half court. There was plenty of time to get the ball to Harden. But in going to Beverly to get the ball, he allowed two blazers defenders to double team both Beverly and Harden. He also screened for Matthews, the guy guarding him, so Beverly didn't see him until too late.

Great win for the Blazers.

It was iffy, but it looked more brutal than the "flagrant" they called earlier in the series on Mo.

Yeah that flagrant was a little questionable in my opinion as well. That was a playoff foul. Remember them?!?! The NBA is getting so soft lately....

Yep, that was crap. I was surprised and disappointed that they called it that way. Then again, with the caliber of officiating we've seen in this series, I shouldn't have been surprised at all.

It's not like I don't complain when I see bad or biased officiating when I watch other teams' games. If it's wrong it's wrong. The officiating is cheapening the game.

Absolutely one of the top candidates, but I will put the MVP on Aldridge this series... Aldridge set the tone for this team. Without him being there, we would be swept, regardless of how well Matthews played defense.

All fouls are incidental. The rule talks about unnecessary contact. I don't think he was playing the man, he was playing the ball. He was up in the air trying for a block and mostly got LMA's arms, which is typical of lots of fouls.

Btw, I don't remember what game it was but there was a game two days ago where a flagrant was called and they asked Steve Javie if it was the right call. Javie said sometimes they'll call flagrants depending on the feel of the game and it doesn't necessarily have to 100‰ match the rulebook. Not saying I agree with it, but there you go.

I think it was more a case of them calling flagrant one first, then looking at it, and the replay didn't convincingly change the call.

I've watched this play over and over and he was not going for the ball at all. That being said it still wasn't a flagrant.

By definition, if you're not going for the ball and you're not wrapping them up, isn't it a flagrant?

There was one angle on the replay, that clearly showed Parson's made contact with Aldridge, above the shoulders with BOTH arms. They only showed it once, and it wasn't excessive, in either case, but I think that may be what the refs were looking at that upheld the Flagrant 1 call on the floor. In the good, old days, it would have just been a good, hard foul, but the precedent set in this series, and throughout the league in recent years, is contact above the shoulders is a Flagrant 1. Weak? Yes. Consistent? Also yes.
