During his five seasons with the Trail Blazers, Wesley Matthews has developed into one of the go-to guys for the media -- a player who speaks his mind and gives sharp, honest and sometimes funny quotes.

He'll take that ability a step further Saturday when he does a stint as guest analyst on NBA-TV.

Matthews will appear on the network's "NBA Gametime" shows that will precede and follow ESPN's coverage of Game 3 of the Atlanta-Washington Eastern Conference series. He will serve on a three-man analyst panel along with former Lakers player Rick Fox and former NBA executive Stu Jackson, who played college basketball at Oregon.

The pregame version runs from 1 to 2 p.m., then the postgame version comes on at 4:30 p.m. and runs until about 7:30 p.m., with the same show repeated immediately after it airs live.

NBA-TV also will have another Trail Blazers player featured on a different show Saturday as point guard Damian Lillard will be one of the players spotlighted in a Mother's Day episode of "NBA Inside Stuff," a magazine-style show. Lillard, along with Stephen Curry, Paul George and Andrew Wiggins, will be featured in profiles of players' relationships with their mothers. The episode first airs at 9 a.m. Saturday, with multiple replays throughout the week.

Lillard's bit will revolve him completing his degree at Weber State to fulfill a promise he made to his mother, Gina.

Matthews was in the midst of an outstanding season for the Trail Blazers, averaging 15.9 points and ranked among the league leaders in three-point field goals when he ruptured his Achilles' tendon in a March 2 game against Dallas. Despite playing just 60 games, he finished No. 9 in the league in three-pointers made at 173, which helped him move into the No. 1 spot in Blazers franchise history for three-pointers made with 826.

Matthews had surgery to repair the tendon and has said he intends to be back by October. His contract with Portland expires June 30, and he will be an unrestricted free agent.
