How is CP3 able to garner so many votes? Not that his stats aren't insane, but how was he able to become such a high vote getter amongst the stupid casual fans while playing in New Orleans? It's not like he's a highlight dunk machine or had superstar hype first couple years.. Roy is putting up amazing stats right now, but is in 10th in voting behind guys like Aaron Brooks.. How did CP3 make that jump?

He has led the league in assists and steals for a couple years now. Even stupid fans pay attention to things like that.

I think Nash is a shoe-in. Williams should go, just because he's good enough, but hasn't.

evans is a rookie witha 17.89 PER on a losing team. ellis is among the league leaders in scoring but only has a 17.27 PER and plays for one of the worst teams in the league. neither is remotely in contention to make it. even if the west took 6 guards neither would make it (billups would).

right now i would guess it's not really even close between roy and deron either, but at least that is debatable. roy has a higher PER - top 10 (top 5?) in the league over the last month, recent national TV exposure and hype as a superstar leading his team to wins in the face of abversity, and obviously the blazers have the better record and are tied for the division lead.

should be in order kobe, paul, nash/roy, deron/billups (with billups chances hurt by current injury). if mcgrady plays it will probably cost deron a spot.

and if that happens, do you pick Williams or Nash?

i don't think it will happen - with bynum fading and so many deserving guards there's no reason the west shouldn't be able to take 5.

but if it came to that, nash is leading the league in assists and #9 in the league in PER, williams is 3rd in assists and only #31 in PER, and the Suns have the better record, so as of right now it wouldn't be close.

Well, this is a really tough month and if the Blazers go on a losing streak, which is possible with all the injuries, Roy et. al. playing so many minutes, and the tough competition, then Roy could find himself on the outside looking in. I think he will make it, and as of right now should almost certainly make it, but a skid by the Blazers coupled with either poor play from Roy or a stepping up by Evans or Billups could change things.

When do the coaches vote?
