If Kanter were healthy (or even just able to eat/drink) I think he could pose some real problems. But with both his shoulder and inability to eat/drink, I think his offense will continue to be shaky. Also, Green is going to go at his shoulder harder than Jokic ever did - all we can hope is that they call flagrant when it happens (they won't).

Even with one arm, Kanter is going to give Draymond fits. I don’t care how good draymond is defensively, Kanter is an elite post scorer and rebounder and has at least four inches and 30 pounds (of muscle) on him. He isn’t gonna stop Kanter from getting to where he wants. It’s just physics lol. His best hope is to play dirty and/or flop constantly. Unfortunately he’s really good at both, so it may actually work. But I like our odds in that matchup anyway.

Not a fan of Mark Davis and apparently neither are the players. This from 3 years ago: https://www.latimes.com/sports/nba/la-sp-nba-best-worst-referees-20160131-story.html

"And closing out the list is Davis, 48, an 18-year veteran official.

"He's cool as they come, but he's so arrogant," one player said. "He instigates things sometimes. Marc will go back at a player. He forgets that he's talking to another man. Don't challenge a man's manhood. Now you are going too far."

"Marc Davis is hands down the worst," a player said. "He acts likes he's your friend, but he'll just screw you. He'll screw you and he'll get the biggest attitude about it."

I agree - one arm and Kanter could be dangerous. But Ramadan is really going to hinder him, IMO.

I mean I’ve never gone through it so what do I know, but didn’t Kanter say it actually helps him focus? It’ll also help that he no longer has to play at elevation.

He said it. But it was the delirium talking!
All I know is the last few games he missed a lot of shots he normally makes. No matter what he says, abstaining from food and water are a major hindrance, not a performance-enhancer.

Stat nerds:

-Portland needs to get into the paint. In GS’s 12 playoff games so far, they’ve allowed teams to get 50+ points in the paint just 4 times, and they’re 1-3 in those games. They’re 7-1 when they allow 49 or less in the paint.
-GS is 0-3 when allowing opponents to score 120 or more, and they are 0-3 when they allow opponents to shoot 48% or more over the course of their 12 playoff games.

Backs up what I've been saying to people IRL--our biggest advantage in this series is Kanter over their centers, and we need him to be able to take advantage of Looney, both in the post and on the offensive boards. On top of that, if they look to defend Dame and CJ with Klay and Iggy, then whoever Steph is defending needs to attack him in the post.

Hot take here, I know... We need to score more points than them.

Yeah but won't they just play Bogut more minutes? He played more against the Clips than he did against Huston. Looney only gets about 20 minutes. That may all be against Zach. Bogut is pretty good defender.

Possible. They may well start Bogut, just to match him up against Kanter? Of course he's even less of an offensive threat than Looney is. I think that might be more of a benefit for us than they'd realize.

I think that Golden State will not "adjust" in any way to the Blazers. I think they'll be of the mindset that as long as they play their game, they'll wipe the floor with Portland no matter what.

This series isn't about matchups. It's about will, and which team will step up harder and hit the big shots. I would like to think that Dame and CJ's will is as strong as anyone on the Warriors. This series will go 6-7 games, regardless of who wins.

Sure he won't score, but his picks (legal or not) are amazing and he is a great passer. I love their offense with Bogut in, Durant is unstoppable but the style they play without him is way more fun to watch.

Yes the Warriors are much more fun to watch without KD. The style they play without him is more dangerous imo than with him. Because their is a lot more ball and player movement which makes them so dangerous and unpredictable, and with KD to much ISO

I don't watch the Warriors, haven't done so in several years. The media hype surrounding them and Lebron have made those two things I refuse to put myself through. I will make an exception and watch the game tonight with the sound off. Which is fine with me, I'm usually always doing something while I have the game on anyway.

Go Blazers!

Hoping Atlanta or Memphis gets #1

Craziest would be Philly.

Anyone know the jersey selections for the night?

Things I'm looking out for:

Kanter's offensive rebounding: Can he take advantage of Looney / Green at center? If he can, it could force Kerr to play Bogut more which gives us someone to attack in pnr.

Hood and Harkless post ups: Expect Curry to be hidden on whoever plays the 3. Need to take advantage / make Curry work defensively.

Bench minutes: Played a huge role vs Denver and should have advantage again in this series.

KD being out is also underrated by most: Allows us to get away with having both Harkless and Aminu off the floor like we were able to vs Denver. Gives Dame somewhere to hide defensively as well.
