Interesting. I really thought of that movie as a Western :simply another Coen Brothers triumph. No Country For Old Men.
That was a strange group of movies packed into one piece. I liked it because it was absolutely different than any other Hollywood offering.Another good newer one is The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
It's not a Western. It's a Coen Brothers masterpiece.lol, great movie, but not exactly a western.
The first 2 shorts are masterpiecesAnother good newer one is The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

A Cohen's Brother Masterpiece that happens to be a western
Me too, cup. A modern Western is more like just a modern story set in the Western United States. A true Western is set in the old West.Curious how you define it as a western. I always thought of a western as made back in the days of horses and cowboys.
There are some movies placed in the following categories: revisionist, contemporary, and neo western.Me too, cup. A modern Western is more like just a modern story set in the Western United States. A true Western is set in the old West.
I just looked it up in wikipedia. Saw the cast. Love Tom Waits and Liam Neeson but can't stand Tyne Daly.Another good newer one is The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
I also enjoyed their version of True Grit.I just looked it up in wikipedia. Saw the cast. Love Tom Waits and Liam Neeson but can't stand Tyne Daly.
Interesting looking story but I really prefer the older classics.
I also looked up the Cohen brothers.
The best movies by the Cohen brothers in my book are Fargo and O Brother Where Art Thou with No Country for Old Men being in third place, both of the best two movies were nominated for several awards and won quite a few of those. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was nominated for just a few awards and won none.
No Country for Old Men? Nominated for many awards and won many of those.
Never heard of them.Looking forward to watching a couple of fairly new westerns, The Sisters Brothers and The Dark Valley.

The mini series “Godless” on Netflix is really good. The remake of True Grit was awesome. The Revenant was badass also.
If we're going with mini-series, I'll take "Lonesome Dove". Robert Duvall was great as Gus.
Of course, the line, "Thanks for the poke, Lorie darlin'" kind of gave a new twist to the meaning of "cowpoke".
