12 cents?

What the ****...

Is gas ever going to lower in the United States? Or will it just keep climbing and climbing until it reaches $10 or more? The future generation is screwed. We're gonna have to pay like triple for everything, and job opportunities are going down as well. **** this I'm moving to Canada

Theres tons of oil in the US, its just not available because the environazi's wont let us at it....drill here, refine here, and prices will go down....and for all the critics that say it will take years to see a difference, thats why we should have started years ago....

I heard somewhere in Brazil or something, they already found an alternative for fuel. It's some kind of plant they grow all over the country that they use in place of oil, and it's very affordable as well. Maybe we should take some notes for once and follow them...

They use ethanol, but from what I understand it still takes oil to run the machines to manufacture ethanol.

Brian you mentioned moving to Canada, yet they pay even more per gallon. LOL.

Oh

Btw, will gas prices ever go down? I don't think I'll be able to afford to drive when I'm older. lol

I spoke on this in the other thread about offshore drilling...

First you drill out the crude, then you must refine it before it's suitable to put in your tank. We drill all the time in this country. Anytime someone in Texas or Oklahoma feels like dropping an oil pump into the dirt, they do. The biggest bottle neck we face is our refining capacity. We have storage containers that are full of crude oil, but the law doesn't allow for new refineries to be built (see Beefs remark above about environazi's). We have the same number of refineries in our country as we did in the 1970's when they stopped them from building new ones. As you can imagine, our demand has gone up tremendously in the past 40 years, but our rate of production has stayed about the same.

So we're gonna end up paying 10 bucks a gallon and probably lose our houses and become homeless because we want to save the squirrels.

Sounds reasonable. I'm down

The Law According to Liberal Tree Huggers: People come from monkeys therefore are just animals and no animal should be able to damage another for any reason, survival be damned....

I think I would have to draw the line if we have cities like some in China where people can't walk outside without breathing masks on. At that point, its a rediculous amount of air pollution. They need to build these things smart, while they build new ones.

This is why the answer is an extensive Nuclear power program....no air pollution, ever....

3-mile island?

They haven't built any new ones in years. Again, they need to build and maintain them properly. Also, we now have to worry about them as potential terrorists targets. If they can do all that, then why not? Why not just build them underground? Seems safer that way, with natural containment.

Chernobyl was 22 years ago....technology has advnace so much that a nuclear disaster of that type isnt even plausible anymore.....using Chernobyl as an excuse to supress our nuclear destiny is like swearing off tomatoes forever because of the recent salmanella outbreak....

theres like 80 Nuke plants operating in the US right now...you never hear about those, you only hear about the accidents, both that happened many years ago....

yet 80 isn't enough. the problem is consumption of energy in the US. i think the best alternative is to curb the consumption and not create solutions to keep up with the increase of wasteful consumption. if higher prices is what it takes to curb consumption i'm all for it.

Okay, then we need more birth control! Teach kids how to use a condom and we don't consume so much damn energy!

Teach kids abstinence and dont worry about wasting rubber that could be made into something useful....

btw, 19% of US electricity comes from nuclear power....lets get that number to around 100% and much of our dependency on oil goes away....

I'd prefer homes get equipped with solar panels. In Israel 90% of homes have solar equipped water heaters. They've been on to the solar energy movement since the 1950's.

I think it's ridiculous more homes and commercial buildings don't have them installed, especially out where I live in Irvine.

PGE will give you rebates if you are using solar and are also connected to the grid. Its a steep entry cost, but they predict you save money after x number of years, and from then on out.

I would rather they just have safe sex or masturbate. I think that is the healthier solution for someone who is at a stage in their life with the strongest sex urges that they will ever have. It's much easier for older people to be abstinent, and far less frustrating.

It's about 7 to 8 years I believe before it starts paying off, but they are discovering a significant amount of people who have solar panels tend to use more energy than they were prior to installing them. They run the AC a little longer, run more than 1 TV at a time on and they can become more wasteful.

Chernobyl was a military grade power plant, built by a nation that was in such deep financial trouble that the government collapsed.

France gets 70%+ of their power from nuclear, and has for decades. No reactor issues there, and people there want reactors built near their towns.

Our best strategy would be to come up with ONE plan/blueprint for a safe reactor and build the hell out of it. The cost would go down with each one we build, and we'd get really smart about running them.

FWIW, electricity is about 30% of our power needs. The rest is transportation.

In 5 years or less, you have to replace the batteries that the solar panels charge up. It's a no-win proposition

Just buy scooters Shape. 90-100 MPG, $2000 for a new one (40 MPH top speed). :]

Lol, we just need to be as careful with the radical left as we are with the radical right.
