What are your beliefs on religion, god?

Heelers are a ton of work. They are the ultimate energy dog. I had neighbors who had 2 heelers. They would train for triathlons and would take the dogs with them. The running, biking, even swimming those dogs would be right there. They can run for hours.

They're an outside dog who needs a huge yard and something to keep them busy.

I drop him off at dog daycare tues and thursday. Mon, Wed, Fri gf comes home during lunch break to let him out. When his joints are fully grown, my fiancee will take him for an hour run in the morning, and I will take him on an hour run when I get home from work. He has already gone on two hikes in the gorge with us and will be joining me on another tomorrow.

Particle accelerators, for one example. It takes ridiculous amounts of energy, though, and the particles produced don't last long. But it definitely happens.

Of course, Mags was probably including energy in his question, so I was mostly teasing.

Yep. In a particle accelerator, the smashed bits weigh more than the thing smashed.

But to say it happens all the time is maybe misleading?

And e=mc^2 is an equivalence between MASS and energy.

Trip tango!!! Missed ya man! Energy is matter. Without energy that can't happen. About your e=mc2

Yeah -- a little bird told me that folks were taking a break from arguing about basketball and finally getting back on topic. :D

And yeah, I knew what you meant. Just playin, yo!

most astrophysicists would say it's likely they already existed. also most would say it has not been established that there was a singularity at all
Most would say there was not a singularity at all? Please provide your sources.

and we won't be able to know what the big bang was until we understand quantum gravity.
Then why should we believe any of it?

that was a lot of work for a straw man.
more baseless rhetoric

And alien? You mean like an alien within the universe and created by the universe or an alien with the properties of God being immaterial, eternal and omnipresent. So basically, God.

whos to say god is all of those things? the bible? the bible is media, yesteryears fox news.

boiling it down to "faith" and all can be explained, because you "just know"...cant really take that seriously

In about 6mos to a year from now PM me and I'll get you the name of a Blue Heeler rescue group who will place your dog in a nice sheep farm in eastern Oregon.

most are agnostic.

Then why should we believe any of it?

any of what? science isn't claiming to know what happened. you are the one who is doing that.

no, scientists don't think what exists came from 'nothing' in the sense you mean. that's a straw man. denny is correct on that - there's no evidence 'nothing' in the sense it is used in religious first-cause arguments is even a meaningful concept.

And e=mc^2 is an equivalence between MASS and energy.

A team of 20 physicists from four institutions has literally made something from nothing, creating particles of matter from ordinary light for the first time. The experiment was carried out at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) by scientists and students from the University of Rochester, Princeton University, the University of Tennessee, and Stanford. The team reported the work in the Sept. 1 issue of Physical Review Letters.

Scientists have long been able to convert matter to energy; the most spectacular example is a nuclear explosion, where a small amount of matter creates tremendous energy. Now physicists have succeeded in doing the opposite: converting energy in the form of light into matter -- in this experiment, electrons and their anti-matter equivalent, positrons.

And it's not just scientists playing with photons -- there's reason to believe this process takes place in certain stars as well.

Of course, in an infinite universe, we can assume there's an infinite number of particle accelerators producing an infinite number of electrons and positrons so that an infinite number of TripTangos can tease an infinite number of magnifiers...

I bet you've never spent a minute of researching the the Bible, its preservation, textual criticism, manuscript evidence we have (25,000+) to compare and how late they are dated, the Historical Method and archaeological and scientific evidence, much less read it. The answers are out there to those who have an open mind and heart. But remember, no amount of logic or argument can save someone, only the grace of God and a changed spirit can. I hope you'll seek guidance from the Lord.

meanwhile believers mock atheists

kinda like "bushs fault" vs "if bush did this"

what ever blows your skirt up. I dont care one way or the other what others believe, just tired of troll posts that are used to show how superior some believe they are..

try this tack..at the moment of death, there is a measurable loss of weight that some believe to be the soul..if there is no soul, are all of those who have had paranormal experiences delusional?

God would eventually grow tired of this and smite all of the TripTangos.

Matter is being created in that image from the immaterial.

Once again, this is a theory with no empirical evidence! Is the immaterial being created from nothing? God Himself is immaterial! This doesn't do anything to provide answers for how the universe can create itself from nothing.

all of those egyptians worshiping their gods thought they had it all figured out too, and maybe they did

not saying you are wrong, just saying the chances are really really really really really really really really really really really really high that you are wrong

truth is, everyone has their own god, just like you and mags disagree on basic christianity... some religions just have better marketing

There is no place, anywhere that you can find absolute nothing. Even nothing is made of something.

In a perfect vacuum, if you could find one, the vacuum itself is something.

Specifically it is a balance of matter and antimatter that cancel each other out. The two can be separated, creating matter from "nothing" after all.

Sounds like you believe in eternity. Step in the right direction brother! Bravo

tl;dr GG come play on my terms please.

Where in any of this thread have I or anyone in the Christian faith mock atheists? I have seen many mocking Christians in this very thread

Yes, he absolutely would. Which means that the fact that he hasn't yet proves that there is no God.

QED MUTHAFUCKAAAAAAAAS!!!

yes, they are delusional. Let me counter you with our buddy Mags! Mags please chime in about an experience you had that felt extremely vivid and real while on a hallucinogen. Do you think Mags could tell the difference between shrooms and a near death experience?

Thanks Sly. What a pal. =|

LOL! Just fucking with you.

But Blue Heelers are a ton of work. Great dogs, very smart, tough as hell but a lot of work. Has he corralled you and your woman yet?

I don't think this is right. Matter is not converted to energy in an atomic explosion. The strong force that binds the nucleus together is released when splitting the atom into two other elements that weigh the same as the original. And a chain reaction is required to make a really big boom.

WTF I just showed you the evidence. YOU JUST LOOKED AT THE PICTURE!

Yes you have that right. There are many that disagree on theories from the same faith; just like those in atheism that disagree with theories on the big bang, multi-verse, dark matter, etc.

And there is a much higher chance IMO that there is a creator than that a mass (bound by space and time) has always existed. Also, that matter can be created from non-matter; which is impossible with modern science.

truth is truth regardless if someone chooses to believe it or not, remember that. I told you there's evidence and if you have any respect for truth you will examine it with an open mind and give your own verdict. But based on the Christian beliefs, faith is the key to salvation, so knowing all the facts in the world won't save you. Only God can. Hopefully He can use something to knock down some barriers if you are sincerely seeking.

There is one person in this forum that I believe has more knowledge of science than anyone else here. That's trip tango. No offense.

Nope, he has only growled and snapped at us when he's sleepy and doesn't like us moving him or cutting his toenails. At which we stop briefly or put him in a time-out.
