What are your thoughts on the idea of a "blanket deduction"?

I'm sure he doesn't need it, I'm sure he will take it anyway.

Just like Obama took his deductions.

What's funny is how you are trying to bash Romney for a plan that you know nothing about. Then, when confronted with your ignorance, you say it won't matter, because he won't win.

Basically, you're voting for Obama out of ignorance, and you just admitted it. No surprise here, after being a target of years of your act.

Sure. Like you use the coupons in the newspaper to buy cat food when you have a dog to feed.

In other words, if he needed or wanted to take it, he already would have.

You didn't read the background material very carefully. He couldn't take it this year, but it rolls over and he will be able to take it in future years.

Last time I ever listen to maxiep. Sheesh.

You have a problem with the truth?

Nah. I'm voting for Obama for lots of reasons, Romney's tax plan isn't really all that important to the decision. But yes, I admit I am not any more familiar with Romney's tax plan than maxiep is.

You assume he wanted to take it this year but couldn't. I assume he did a nice thing for partners who managed the stables and took care of the horse by paying for $77K worth of expenses and staying hands off in terms of managing. The hands off part made the investment and expenses a passive one. For it to not be a passive one, all he had to do was take part in weekly or monthly meetings and talk about management issues. And then he could have written the whole amount off.

I did read the material. And I have run into the passive activity tax issues before ;)

How is that? He's said multiple times, and his website says it as well, that capital gains tax would be 0% for those making less than $200k. Does Romney make less than $200k?

I feel the Romeny/Ryan ticket is good at implying things without stating their direct opinion. This is another case where he could imply capital gains is eliminated for those who make under $200k without saying the words "only up to." His statement would still hold true if he eliminated ALL capital gains taxes.

Disclaimer: I was skimming for a response and didn't see one, so perhaps it's already been said.

This seems like grasping at straws just because you don't like Romney. I believe in the debate he said "only" for those making less than $200k.

Nobody on this board will pay less taxes under an implemented Romney tax plan. You'd be an absolute fool to believe otherwise.

Good. We all need to pay more, including Romney. Or else start slashing shit left and right. But since neither will do that...

Yes, it is grasping at straws, but I do not put it past his team to mislead without lying. Please excuse my bias.

But your rate comes down and the burden also comes down on you for one more reason, and that is every middle-income taxpayer no longer will pay any tax on interest, dividends or capital gains. No tax on your savings. That makes life a lot easier.

If you're getting interest from a bank, if you're getting a statement from a mutual fund or any other kind of investment you have, you don't have to worry about filing taxes on that, because there'll be no taxes for anybody making $200,000.00 per year and less, on your interest, dividends and capital gains.

HA!

Obama promised in his 2008 debates to not raise any tax, of any kind, on somebody making less than $200k. That didn't turn out to be true.

So even if Romney is lying, I have less reason to trust Obama on the issue since we already know he lies about this issue.

Why should I excuse your bias? You're basically worried that Romney will mislead with his choice of wording. But you ignore that fact that Obama blatantly lied about the same exact issue and we have the data to prove it. So you would rather call out Romney because he might imply something that he doesn't do, but won't call out Obama for actually acting on a blatant lie? Sounds about right.

maris, you crack me up, damn near every post you make peggs my bullshit meter..what are you going to say when barrycare kicks in and it costs you more? Ws fault? If you are covered now through an employer, by the time it kicks in, the odds are that your employer may no longer offer medical coverage. If you are self insured, you will pay more and get less, if you do not insure, you will be taxed.

so, is that the higher tax you refer to?

I lose again. GG
