What central doctrine of yours do you doubt most?

I want to believe in a higher power. I want to give my child the comfort that he's not alone in the universe. However, I've never felt the presence of God.

I would say I have a very similar view on the subject.

When I stand at my mother's grave, describe the economy and how the Dow has performed that week, ask for tips on whether to sell stock, and listen carefully to the scratchy whispers, I doubt my core beliefs about the coexistence of atheism and the afterlife.
