Not to sound rude here, but since you are lesbian, would you enjoy a dick in your mouth? I'm guessing not. It would be uncomfortable and gross. It's the same as telling somebody to "eat shit" or "fuck a goat." Unless you enjoy eating shit or are into bestiality, I would consider those as insults as well. Telling a straight man to "suck a dick" is not any way being a homophobe.

Saying that the implication that a man "sucks dick" is an insult (not because of the act but because it's a man doing it) sounds pretty homophobic to me.

Would you think your dick is the same as shit?

Saying "eat shit" is generic. Gross but not a slur.

It seems to me that the reactions to crandc are much more OH NOES dramatic than crandc's rather straightforward insult (which was a reaction to a slight). She's not the one escalating this thread to a "huge scandal"... you guys are.

In other words: you're acting like a bunch of jackasses.

It was part of the original thread you started. I had to make a copy of that thread in order to isolate the ones about homophobia, since this forum software doesn't have a "split thread" function. Deleting your post (as the first one) would have deleted this whole thread.

Yeah, cause it isn't like posters on this board are hugely insulting towards women on a daily basis. Or homosexuals, or People of Color. Crandc must be making it up in her mind.

I don't get it. I started a typical thread over on the blazer area and it's moving along fine. It had nothing to do with homophobia at all. Nothing. So, how did this get started?

With the next post in this thread (the one after yours). Originally, all the posts in this thread (up to BrianFromWA's post) were in your Canzano thread. I copied the thread here and removed the homophobia-related ones from the original and the basketball-related ones from this copy. The point was to prevent derailing the thread about Canzano's article.

I'm sorry about the confusion. I originally wanted to remove your opening post from this one, since it's no longer related...but if I do that, the software interprets that as wanting to delete the entire thread.

In that post, OSUBlazerfan told Canzano to do something--an act that we are fairly certain that Canzano would not relish performing. In that respect, Blazersblood is right--it is comparable to telling someone to "eat shit", because the intention is the same.

Telling someone to "suck a dick" is not the same as calling someone a homosexual any more than telling someone to "take a flying leap" is the same as calling someone an acrobat.
