If someone told me to go suck a dick, i would be HIGHLY offended. If some people dont get that, than thats their issue. That doesnt make me homophobic.

Indeed, sex acts of any sort can be used as forms of humiliation. This leads to a second question I have: would you say the insult and associated sex act is equally degrading regardless of the target's gender?

Now THAT is a fascinating question! I'm quite certain that my wife (for instance) would be equally as offended as I would if someone told her to "go suck a dick", perhaps even more so. You raise a very good point. Repped.

Exactly. However, if I were to reverse it and coarsely instruct a heterosexual male to orally service female genitalia, I imagine the statement would not be perceived as degrading. Why is that, do you think?
 
This thread title is awesome. IMO overreaction by crandc. I think there are times where if you are vehemently looking for something you can find it. That's what I feel like happened here.

i haven't seen any evidence of this elusive creature, homophobia, which you speak. in fact, that appears to be as rare as a lesbian with a sense of humour. but if I find it anywhere I'll be sure to comment on how offended I am.

Interesting question.

Making that statement to a hetro male or a lesbian implies humiliation/degradation. One might almost compare it to telling a hetro female to "go get raped". The insult is separate from homophobia (IMHO).

If that same comment was directed at a gay male, it takes on a whole different meaning, as it implies that gay sex is disgusting even when consensual.

In other words, I would consider the insult more homophobic if Canzano *was* gay.

I think telling anybody to "go suck a dick" is pretty insulting. Man or woman, gay or straight. I know my wife wouldn't appreciate it if we were in a fight & I told her to "GO SUCK A DICK." Or would that be sexist all of the sudden?

Telling somebody to "eat shit" isn't generic. Wouldn't coprophiles be insulted at such a term? Or do they not count?

I hear a couple of douchebags on the local sports radio channel here in Vegas making derogatory comments about fat people all the time. If they made one homophobic remark they would be in the unemployment office the next day.

I don't and never will give two flying fucks what a couple of poor men with malfunctioning brains do in their own bedroom. Common sense should tell you that homosexuality wouldn't be the preferred sexual orientation of most people if given a choice. Stuffing my face until I weigh 800 lbs isn't desirable either, but I do. (with food by the way)

What I really find funny is that people want others to insult people in a nice way, how stupid is that?

I can guarantee you that if I piss a guy off on the freeway and we got out of our cars to fight he would likely make insults about my weight. If he was black, I think you might know what I would say to him if I were pissed. If the guy had a lazy eye I would say something like "LOOK AT ME WHEN I AM YELLING AT YOU"
