Seems Haynes now is reporting that the Team asked Dame to sit the last 10 games and call it a Calf Injury.
 
TBH, I was surprised the league didn't look harder at the Blazers last season, as it was a blatant of a tank job as anyone else's. Not sure why only Dallas got busted but the horse is kind of outta the barn now. A retroactive tanking investigation just makes league administration look even more stupid and manipulated.......
 
A. Other than Haynes’ bit of attempted revenge over the Lillard/Heat trade fail, we haven’t seen anything saying that there is an investigation by the league.

B. Shutting a star player down when there’s no realistic chance of making the playoffs is done all the time.

C. What the Mavs did was more egregious: deliberately shutting down multiple players to ensure losing a play-in game in order to prevent losing their first round pick.

D. The Mavs got fined $750K. That seems like more than any penalty the league would hit the Blazers with if they did actually start an investigation.
 
I think this was all planned by Dame. Didn’t he say he would say things to hurt the franchise on the way out if he wasn’t treated fairly? Doesn’t mean it isn’t true, but this is Dame’s last arrow. Hope we don’t lose a first. But at this point what’s done is done. I imagine it will be a second and some $$ if the league investigates and finds that tanking occurred. Hopefully they somehow punish Miami due some reason too just for fun
 
At most the Blazers lose some cash. I think having Sharpe/Scoot on the roster is worth kicking some cash in that will be disbursed to NBA Charities.

What I am seeing is "accused." Saw Detroit mentioned too.

Where this gets tough is that by the end of the season, NO ONE is feeling great. Every player is playing through pain, through bumps and bruises. Making the decision to preserve them rather than telling them to play through pain is one of judgment, and gives you plausible deniability.
 
Why weren't the Blazers investigated after the end of the 2021-22 season? That was as blatant as blatant can be. The Blazers had a 4 game win streak.

Nobody was complaining.
Josh Hart didn't complain after he was traded.

My guess is a slap on the hand because teams have been doing this for years. Even if you just go on the last year or the last two years, if the league is going to penalize the Blazers significantly, then you have to do the same to other teams.

Also, when you're talking about draft picks, you have to realize you're hurting draftable players that have nothing to do with happened along with teams. That doesn't really affect second rounders, who might be able to get a little competition of their services if they are free agents rather than a late pick, but first rounders lose a guaranteed contract. I have to believe the NBAPA would have something to say about that.
 
The Blazers' record WITH Lillard was 1-6 before he sat (March 8 through March 22). I think the tanking "investigation" is wishful thinking.

The Blazers can say they wanted to preserve Lillard for the following season and give Sharpe more playing time.

Dame himself is the one who had the actual investigation. He's making the accusation after being traded. I'm sure the owners consider him an authentic source.

The argument is actually making me chuckle.

NBA: "We're investigating you for tanking."

Blazers: "I promise you, we're really this terrible. Have you seen the crap on our roster? These guys couldn't win a dad's basketball league at a middle school."

every time I look at that 21-22 roster I shudder.
 
Scoot is worth paying a tanking fine. Maybe 500k and an embarrassing notation.

now... the new CBA has extraordinary fines for tanking. But the big hits only relates to faking All-Star injuries. If Jrue gets traded and nobody else makes the All-Star team .... the light for a Blazers tank goes green.
